I didn't see the broadcast, what whoops was it? I'm assuming since they were in Brainerd he mentioned his seat belts coming undone and almost going thru the windshield in the shutdown area.

I have to wonder, I did not hear it mentioned, was it an accidental undoing of the belts?
and bending the steering wheel, had to hit him in the "Precious Parts"... o_O
he sure looked to be hurting...

The arm restraint got under the latch, when the chutes hit it unlatched the belts. He really had a "death grip" on that steering wheel as much as it was bent, those steering wheels are a whole lot harder to bend than you may think.

I remember Hillary Will having a similar incident a few years ago. Can't find a video of it anywhere, but it was scary-looking to say the least. She was nearly shoved out of the cockpit when the chutes hit.

I heard a tale about an alcohol funny car racer that had the same thing happen at Gainesville about 10 years ago. It cracked the windshield and when the NHRA guys asked him what happened to the windshield at the turn off he said it "banged the blower" except the NHRA guys could clearly see the burst panels still in the manifold and every thing was clean and dry. He finally came clean a little while later. They all had a good laugh at the driver's expense and said something to the effect "you won't do that again, will ya?"

Her car put a bunch of pipes out on the LH side at the same time.. Not much she or any other driver could have done to avoid that situation.

It dropped cylinders because it spun the tires, then she stayed in it a little too long.

Her and the hubby both had wrecks this weekend.

Hope she's OK. It hit the wall pretty hard based on the flattened headers.John was pretty amped up during his interview.

To be fair, hubby's wreck was not his fault. When you go barreling into turn one with a bunch of rent-a-drivers, sometimes you are going to be their collateral damage. Let's hope Aleshin pulls his head out before turn 1 at the Brickyard.
