Doesnt make sense that john would dive for courtneys first win when he is in a precarious position in the countdown.
But all this talk of diving would not be taking place if there was no countdown. ;)

and why would they dive this week and not last week? In the 2nd round almost every car smoked the tires in the same lane Johnny was in and if you know Johnny Gray you would know that there is no way in hell he would throw a race for anyone.

He will if the boss says to do it :) I would agree with that if he was running his own team, but he's not :D

Yeah, DSR is one of a few teams (MLR also comes to mind) who actually races heads up. Outside of Seattle 2004 ish, that is the only time DSR threw a race and since then they have raced heads up and there's nothing obvious (like John in Indy 2009) proving otherwise.

Really? And how do you know this for sure?? Do you work for Schumacher? Do you have their pits wire tapped? Personally I think all the multi-car teams use team orders when needed. That's what multi teams are for. IMO :D

Lynn, do you think Big O, Napa, and Valvoline would be happy to see their driver throw a race?

I would hate to be Johnny and have to explain to Big O why he dived... And we'd have to have "the nice young men in the white coats" take him away for talking to himself on ESPN2....

d'kid

They are no different than any of the other sponsors. I think you guys who think that other teams besides JFR does not give team orders are wearing blinders!!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. :p

Put a mark down for me in the "John took a dive" column. My Dad always fell back on that old saying about something looking, walking and quacking like a duck, I'll use the same analogy when it comes to someone taking a dive. If I had a million dollars, I would have bet on John Force to lose that round. Talk all you want about the points, the fact that others also spun the tires in that lane, let's face it, he wanted that win for his daughter. Do I understand? Yes. Do I like it? No. Make her earn her first Wally by winning all four rounds, not three out of four. She had the better car and probably would have beat him anyway, just don't make the loss look so obvious. If they had gone through the traps side by side, door to door and she won, I'd have been as happy for her as anyone. The way it went down was ugly, or at least ugly for those of us not drinking the John Force Koolaid.

I really used to love all the Force cars. Not so much anymore for that very reason. You can use any excuse in the book, but in my mind, John has to figure out a better way to throw a race, the dives are looking way too obvious to me and have for the last few years.

If you had the time to go back and review every JFR vs JFR race over the last few years, in my mind, the number of "suspicious" victories outnumber what I'll call the "heads up, no monkey business" victories. I'm guessing there's some kind of a tactical decision made by the JFR brain trust prior to each JFR vs JFR round race on who wins that race. Which, strangely enough, may not be that driver with the best car for that particular round. And I'm sure that Mr. Force has the ability to override any decision that's made that he doesn't agree with.

And please, I"m not a keyboard racer, I've been involved in the sport/hobby as a spectator/driver for over 50 years, so yes, I do know a bit about what's going on out there. Ummm, no, I've never driven a funny car but I know enough about them to know when something "funny" happens. Again, the thing about looking, walking and quacking like a duck.

You want to know what would put a smile on my face? Seeing John Force miss getting into the Championship race by, let's say, 5 points. Yeah, that would put a big smile on my face.

And while we're on the subject, come on pit reporters, get out there and interview some of the other drivers and/or crewmembers. Thank God for my DVR, I've just about worn out my fast forward button by hurrying through any and all of the John Force interview footage. Talk about blah, blah, blah. "I'd like to thank my sponsors, sponsors, blah, blah, blah". There are a million interviews out there, do something different and go talk to someone other than John Force or any of his family, friends, or teammates for crying out loud. Go talk to some of the Sportsmen drivers for something really different. There has to be a lot of great, untold stories out there, I wish someone would take the initiative to go find them rather than boring us with the same old stuff over and over and over. I honestly am losing interest in watching anymore because there's really nothing different from week to week.

Agree, disagree, whatever, I don't care. It really doesn't matter, it's my opinion, I'm entitled to it and nothing you say will make me change my mind. I vote for the dive.

Well if you think John took a dive for Courtney; then you must not have seen the submarine charter DSR had to pave the way for Hagan. I'm not saying that Johnny Gray and Ron Capps knowingly took dives, but it sure looked like the boss told the crewchiefs how to set the tuneups.

Lets see you hate JFR, thats obvious. So the last three races Courtney makes it to the finals, so those races were a fluke, no way the crew chief found a set up for his driver. John Force has worked his ass off to build a strong organization with a strong sponsor support. There is no way John Force is going to let anyone win a race against him, he got to where he is at winning races and he's not going to stop now. Everyone knows that lane was a problem and it took John Force. When John stages his car it's business first and he is not going through a race and make his sponsors look bad. Courtney has been on the money and she took it last week end.

** Most of us do not work in a lounge chair on a white sand beach with attentive talking parrot servants to refresh our tropical drinks and sing us show tunes.

And so we complain about JFR

But even if we were on that beach with those beverage-toting parrots, we'd probably still find something to gripe about.**

GOOD DAY

Another post of the year candidate!

Ya gotta remember this: We aren't discussing a washed-up, has-been here, who has basically been blacklisted because of his mouth!

And there you have it. The politically correct state of drag racing today. How incredibly boring.....................................
