Was just going through some of the nhra pics of the week and saw this reall cool pic , NHRA.com Photo of the Week presented by Auto Imagery . Probably more fuel funny cars in that one pic then there are today . I was watching funny car summer last night and it got me thinking If there were the same amount of match race dates today then there were back then , then there would probably be alot more cars running today.

That was "THE COUNTY"! Some of the best "SHOWS" in drag racing.

It just fits! Of all the So Cal Tracks I grew up at, OCIR is the one I miss the most!

I think you are close on the date. In the photo you can see that the finish line win lights were the two "Perfect Circle" neon compasses. In the earlier years they were two "Mr. T's" that lit up like a Las Vegas casino sign. No, they weren't finish line score boards. The score board (when it worked) was on the spectator side of the track adjacent to the bleach box back of the starting line.

I tried to put that pic on my desktop, all I got was a "copyright auto imagery",I don't want to use the picture any other way,any idea how to do this? Thanks

Okie dokie....Paul's way is easier than mine. If you wanna know the hard way let me know, Jeff. LOL

Of Course call me old fashioned, but you can always get a hold of Auto Imagery and ask to use it....;) It's not like Dave Kommell doesn't hang around here from time to time...And It's ok, he's a Red Sox Fan, so he's cool!

When you have the picture page up, look in the address bar, and if you change the "html" to "jpg" and hit enter, the picture will stay there, but allow you to right click on it.

That's just perfect. Why on earth anyone would share info like this on a public board is beyond me. Now Kommel will have to place a huge logo through every picture he contributes to the NHRA site to stop certain people from reproducing his images.

WHOA NELLY!

For what it's worth, it is a low resolution image that isn't much good for anything apart from looking at on your PC. Any printed version would be pixelated and "blocky". It is a way cool image BTW.

Saving any photo on the web is as easy as hitting "PRINT SCREEN" button and pasting the screen shot into an image editing program.

What I posted is not top secret, inside info or anything that is "trick".

I think that anyone who would contemplate doing anything illegal with the images would already know how to do what I posted, and then some.

I'll just sit back and relax while waiting for the response from Dave. I have a feeling he won't be too happy. Auto Imagery spends a lot of money providing great photographs only to have them swiped. Just because "everyone's doing it" or "it's common knowledge" doesn't make it right.

I didn't say that stealing someone's IP or infringing copyright was okay.

I think the actual law, depending on what it is referring to, relates to the use for commercial purposes or monetary gain.

The guy wanted the image for his PC DESKTOP!

Anyone wanting to know how to make a copy of a CD... please don't ask me...

Several issues at play here....

First of all, I am not a Red Sox fan, although I may root for them when they play the Yankees. I have been a Dodger fan since the team moved from Brooklyn in 1958 and I was a season ticket holder for almost 20 years. I have become a Manny Ramirez fan lately....:D Richard Shute grew up in New England, but he is not much of a baseball fan. I have family in Massachusetts and Maine who are Red Sox fans, however misguided they may be.:)

Secondly, we recognize that there is no way to completely protect images. On a regular basis, we go after people that use our images without our permission on a commercial web sites and we are constantly shutting down eBay auctions for prints of our images pirated from various sites. I don't have a problem with someone using one or two of our images on a personal page, such as the myspace.com page referenced earlier in this thread, but we do ask that the images be accompanied by a photo credit/copyright notice and a link to our site.

We (Richard Shute, Bob Hesser and myself) make our living selling the use of our images, so hopefully everyone understands why we go to the lengths that we do to protect our images.
