They're of little use to us at this office. We don't run scaled plots anymore. In fact, we don't even have the capability of doing it. We just run 11 x 17 prints of everything.

Been in this field for 41 years now. The moment I first saw it, I knew what it was. I just figured everyone else knew as well. :D
 
Next to stepping on a Barbie high heeled shoe on a tile floor, or stubbing my cold toe on the edge of a coffee table (something I do with too much frequency) the most pain I've ever had was accidentally stepping on mine. They don't give, not one little bit. It's a great way to break your foot. You could probably support a house with a handful of these.
 
First machine shop I ever worked in, the guy carried a slide rule in his pocket and used it constantly.

Now younger guys wouldn't even know what one was.
 
I thought I was old school for using my 20+ year old HP calculator with RPN. But slide rule takes the cake!
 
French curves have been replaced by Bézier curves in drawing programs. In the end, though, it's still French!
