CAPPS RUNAWAY

Wrong. He got lucky someone didn't seriously get hurt had they been stand close to where he ended up.

He made a great save...but IMHO was very wrong to do it. Fortunately the folks at the top end were on their toes.

Capps was wrong to do it. That clip should be shown to people that want to go back to 1320 feet.

when I saw Capps head off the track towards the gate it brought back memories of this incident....a little different circumstance but the results could be the same...

I hope that this does not turn this thread into a "bash MT" thread....

it shouldn't be a "bash RC" thread either...everyone learns from their misteaks....mistakes ;)

Kalitta had the long car on 2 wheels a few years ago too. If you're down there you better be looking

Things can go very wrong when you take the law/rules into your own hands...what if someone was fatally hurt?
Then what?
Sand trap "GATE"

Skip to 30:12 to see when it happened to Mineo and he took out Eddie Hill's car and Fuzzy Carter.

I thought 1,000 ft was to keep this kind of thing from happing, Maybe those who like 1,000 ft should watch

I don't think anyone said going to 1,000 feet would keep this sort of thing from "happing". Hopefully, if it does happen, the consequences will not be as severe.

Yeah, because turning off the track after a 1000 foot pass is WAY safer than turning off the track after a 1/4 mile pass.

/sarcasm

Yes they can, I was told that was one of the things that kept Scott's funny car running past the 1,000 ft line

Scotts car blew the motor at 1,000' and kept on going, the finish line at the time was 1320', I was responding to the question about the motors dieseling on oil and fuel from the pan
