The last great turnout for alcohol funny car was 2005...Manzo, Payne, Newberry, Moates and more. I think it was more than 16 total if I remember correctly.

I think you're correct, and the last time they had at least 16 cars entered in both TAD and TAFC was 2007.

David, in years past a lot of teams drive their haulers straight to Brainerd from the west coast swing. They line them up on the return road along side of the track. Then some fly, and some ride in the support vehicles back to their shops. And some just stay there and vacation.

I heard in one of the interviews Spenser Massey is going to be there this weekend to spend the vacation. I guess I was surprised to hear that he (or other people with that much money) would choose the Brainerd area to have a week off when they potentially have the entire world to choose from.

A few of the teams use to stay at Craguns Resort during the race week. That was a lot of fun.

endless lodging/dining/golf/boating/fishing options; it's really quite an area.

Should say never go in the zoo sober... the drunker you are the funner it is!
363 nights a year I'm sober... BIR weekend - no kids, no driving, no wife, no doubt I'll be having the most fun I've had in the past 363 nights!

It is a MUST to stroll the zoo grounds... absolutely can't wait!

I would agree... if people in the zoo knew you are the driver of the Chi Town Hustler you'd get special treatment

I was surprised by that too Mike. I haven't heard anything.

the present owners of BIR do a great job with
the facility and hosting the lucas oil nationals.
the atv and camping fees are IMO worth every penny.

No problem whatsoever with the new BIR management, Mike. The Colonel, on the other hand, left a LOT to be desired.
