Its good to see some ink on our sport. I heard a spot for the Epping Race a couple of times this week on Fox Sports Radio. I have heard this for previous races this year also.

Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the US. It is rare that AZ Republic correctly lists NHRA broadcasts on a race weekend. We certainly can't depend on WHP to help out with publicity - they can't even promote their own national event. Not sure how NHRA can get more ink in a major market, but they are certainly failing here.

What do you expect with NHRA? Most outlets will only have something if something goes wrong and/or a crash. The biggest sports channel in the world only carried them when they paid to be aired and were buried on the midnight run of infomercials. The same channel just carried the spelling bee and soon we'll have the hot dog eating contest with poker matches airing all in between.

Funny you should say that because NHRA is adamant about explosions and oil downs but that's all they show in their lead ins and commercials.

There's a reason why Tucson Dragway is doing so well, it's because Jim Hughes has people who care about drag racing working there; I've been shooting at WHP for 3 years now and I still don't understand the politics. To my understanding; however, both the NHRA and LO Drag Boat contracts are up this year, so I have no idea what's going to happen. Of course, I've heard rumors; but, nothing solid.

Great crowd here in Epping. There sure are a lot of drag racing fans here in the north east.

Last year Saturday was a sellout also. Place was packed yesterday. Lots of Canadiens from Quebec, Nova Scotia and Pince Edward Island.

Now that they are all Cashed up, Time to do some modern updates to the track.

You could say that about half the tracks on the tour.

It is my understanding they have done lots of work there since they came over to NHRA sanction. Epping is one of the few stops on tour that I haven't been to, I am definitely going to get there some day.

I've "seen" Epping on U-Tube & think it's interesting that there is a hill on the left side of the track. Motor homes parked up there, get a good view of the action. I look at a lot of videos of various tracks, especially eastern tracks, & it always amazes me the amount of trees around the tracks. I'm so used to Phoenix (we actually do have trees) & the desert, so it's just different to me. Not to mention that we have low humidity - have seen 2-3% in the summer. Of course, it is 5 million degrees.... :p

If modern amenities and huge grandstands are what define a good racing experience then New England is not for you. If close racing and being close to the action in an old school atmosphere floats your boat then the NED experience will leave you smiling. Can't be all things to all people.
