How come more fanfare wasn't made about John Haley returning to Top Alcohol Dragster? I think it's great when a former competitor makes a comeback after nearly 2 decades. He won MY Indy (by MY- I mean my one trip to Indy - so far - in 2002). There was some great historical information from DRC in the first session:
John Haley has one National event win, Indy, 2002.
This is his 24th race overall, his 6th race at this event, first was 2002.
Best starting spot of his career is #3 (Pomona-1, 2003), best starting spot at this event is #4 (2003).
His average starting spot at this event is 8.4, average starting spot of his career is 9.3.
Haley's overall record at this event is 7 - 5, best finish at this event, Semi-finals, 2003 & 2006.
This is his first race since Gainesville, 2007.
His last race at this event was 2006.
Starts the event with an overall record of 16 - 19.

…and there goes the 290 barrier
Question...which of those speeds was the back up and which one is the official record? Secondly, if NHRA hangs weight on the combo or reduces the overdrive, does that record stand or does it get wiped? If it stands, it could be the record for the next 20 years, LOL.

I thought they did away with needing a backup run. If they don't change the rules to slow them down it will stand for a long time. Is 300 in the future?

The car was legal to run when it did the 291 so it will stand. Probably for the rest of most our lives

I watched Q1 and Q2 and they didn't seem to make that big of a deal, and his round one win was more about the upset and the journey at the top end. They did happen to mention winning Indy, but overall they seemed "nun-plussed." But what do you expect from newbies without historical context?

- same fun. same friends. same great racing. different year.
- the big win for me was paul's son evan .... (you should have seen dad's victory dance on starting line)
- second big win for me was 19 year old jack beutler in SS. rite from jr. dragster to SS. gets wally in first year,
and to make the win ever better, it was a heads up final.
- lynsi snyder made trip to MN for both events. she made it to 3rd rnd TS yesterday.
- jamie picht with 2nd wally of year in STK. how many racers will not get a diamond wally this year. his first 2 are both diamond wallys.
- the autograph line for ron and maddie was super long every morning. they had premiere pit spot closest to bleachers and midway.
- crowd seemed very similar to other recent years. every corner of the facility was packed.
- megarita was at the jag bar. same as last year. fired immediately after fireworks. i don't think it fired friday night.
- sportsman classes ran till almost 7pm sat. night. was in lanes with STK then. then we had to regroup, get some food,
get all our people in one spot, and head out to zoo. it was a long, but great day.
- spent E2 past finish line yesterday. watched the round from a couple interesting places
- both bluebird cars very impressive weekend.
- not sure about campbell and densham team. couldn't get it together all wekend.

dk after E2 win.
the back of scoreboards also display e.t. and mph, which is great for those folks who
have reserved campsites past finish line and choose to watch from there. the scale workers can also see them.
