He's beating that Hornets' Nest like a Mexican Pinata. LOLYikes!!!
They talked about him several times on the livestream. How come more fanfare wasn't made about John Haley returning to Top Alcohol Dragster? I think it's great when a former competitor makes a comeback after nearly 2 decades. He won MY Indy (by MY- I mean my one trip to Indy - so far - in 2002). There was some great historical information from DRC in the first session:
John Haley has one National event win, Indy, 2002.
This is his 24th race overall, his 6th race at this event, first was 2002.
Best starting spot of his career is #3 (Pomona-1, 2003), best starting spot at this event is #4 (2003).
His average starting spot at this event is 8.4, average starting spot of his career is 9.3.
Haley's overall record at this event is 7 - 5, best finish at this event, Semi-finals, 2003 & 2006.
This is his first race since Gainesville, 2007.
His last race at this event was 2006.
Starts the event with an overall record of 16 - 19.
Paul, Congratulations on your big win this weekend!72 mph gain in the back half. Pretty damn sporty.
Question...which of those speeds was the back up and which one is the official record? Secondly, if NHRA hangs weight on the combo or reduces the overdrive, does that record stand or does it get wiped? If it stands, it could be the record for the next 20 years, LOL.…and there goes the 290 barrier
I thought they did away with needing a backup run. If they don't change the rules to slow them down it will stand for a long time. Is 300 in the future?Question...which of those speeds was the back up and which one is the official record? The car was legal to run when it did the 291 so it will stand. Probably for the rest of most our livesQuestion...which of those speeds was the back up and which one is the official record? I watched Q1 and Q2 and they didn't seem to make that big of a deal, and his round one win was more about the upset and the journey at the top end. They did happen to mention winning Indy, but overall they seemed "nun-plussed." But what do you expect from newbies without historical context? They talked about him several times on the livestream.
