How long till this Lucky SOB gets to be crew cheif ? Which brings up another question how long would it take to learn a postition like this , has he ever been a bottom end guy ? or clutch guy ? Will he take Bernie's place someday ?

Let his wife? Aren't those days behind us now?

I would think the power house is her favor and he's the one talented enough to earn and keep his job (yes I edited :).......My guess is, she's enjoying less pressure and being a mom, it's more of how she was "REALLY" Raised. You can drive a race car for years, you only have a few years to lay good values for children, especially when they are young......so good on her for deciding to take a little more time off to stay with her biggest prize package.

He was a crewman on Mike Ashley's FC when he met Ashley. Not sure exactly his role on that team, but yes, he has done something other than marry Ashley and get her pregnant

You guys can make all the snide, jealous comments about Danny that you want. He is a really good guy, he is very smart and he has been around the sport for quite a few years. He has plenty of responsibilities on the team and works as hard as anyone there. And he didn't marry Ashley to get a job, he already had one. He married her because he loves her.

Allan,

Do you know if Danny has the desire to ever drive a funny car? I've never heard anyone mention anything about him driving.... do you think we'll ever see him in the drivers seat?

Danny did top end on Mike Ashley's team, I'm pretty sure that he worked on Gary Scelzi's team too?

Kurt, I'll bet you don't have the stones to call Danny a "Lucky SOB" to his face.

Yeah, the tone of the post is a little brash if not incendiary. If you didn't mean it to be that way, a little rewording would go a long ways.

Especially when you refer to him as "Ashley's Husband" and not Danny Hood.

Sure he's married to Ashley, a place a lot of guys would love to be in. But that's no reason to discount what he does.

He could have called him a Lucky SOB because he's jealous that he's not in Danny's shoes. Give him a chance to explain his wording. Not knowing him I wouldn't question his "stones" either. He may be talented enough to reach in through your left arm pit, pull your heart out and hand it to you before you drop. Not defending him but I'd at least want to hear his detailed explanation. If he's being a smart azz then by all means jump all over him.

I think that Kurt's original post has been taken out of context.... IMO whoever married Ashly should be considered a "lucky SOB".

Danny will get the chance to be a CC if he demonstrates the aptitude of a CC and his analysis and execution are that of a CC type. Force isn't going to throw the title at him just because he married his daughter.

I didn't take Kurt's post as negative, or a dig at her husband. That dude is lucky, and not because he is wrenching on a Funny Car! Afterall, he gets to do two things he loves! :D

Seriously, he does have a better shot at going wherever he wants, because of the situation he is in, but who cares? That's just the way it is. More power to him. I am not one to believe he had ulterior motives for marrying Ashley. Like somebody else said, he was already in the business when he met Ashley. I seriously doubt his work ethic has changed one bit since getting married.

Doesn't Danny's father work on Dale Creasy's crew? From what I remember he's been around fuel cars for a little while, so you could say it runs in the family for both Danny and Ashley. I do agree he is one lucky SOB too

Ahh the joys of the internet. Without intonation or facial expressions, it's really hard to know what the OP's intent was.

I read it with a smile, as a few friends would say over a beer: "man, that lucky SOB...". With the kind of tone you would say with the person standing there. But maybe that's just me.

And it's hard to look at it and not think how lucky he is. Get's to do something many people would love to do. Work with/for/around some of the best in his chosen profession, and contribute in a meaningful way too. On top of that he has a gorgeous wife, who by all appearances is a wonderful person, and a brand new baby. Add in a pretty secure future financially, and that looks like a pretty good life. Whether you want to argue he earned it or not, in the larger scheme of things, that's a lucky guy. :)

Definitely agree with that.
