I am not the one saying "Everything is fine. If you dont like it, stay home".Like you're doing. Greg?
Not saying it's going to happen, but it's no more wrong than going to 1,000ft after Kalitta's death. An accident has occured and a change needs to be made because of it. Besides people at the fence just block traffic in and out of the stands and block peoples view anyways. You can't stand at the fence at indy anymore, why should you be able to here?
Dammit, missed it. Anybody care to share what it showed?
o.k, here goes, another melon-head with an opinion, I,m thinkin. a tethered wheel-tire combo, would at least have it,s initial energy, inertia slowed. hopefully enough, to keep it on the track. yes?, no?
Like Virgil said... If its cutting through 5- 5/8" studs like butter, what kind of tether is going to keep it on the car with that much energy being exerted tearing it off the car?

Well, the video I saw on youtube showed a chain link fence running parallel to the track with a large amount of people lining it for the entire track length. Wether they are spectators, media, sponsors, crew, whoever, that's a tough place to be. The bottom line is, what can we do to prevent it from happening again? I saw a NASCAR race from Daytona the other day from 1999 and I was amazed at how low the catch fence used to be and the lack of safer barriers around the track. I remember watching the race live when it happened, but now the track looked so foreign and unsafe. The NHRA will do the right thing and adjust things just like they made them put concrete walls down the whole track, raise the wall height from 1000ft on, and remake all the sand traps.
I really hope somebody files a claim against NHRA for false copyright claim and DMCA abuse!
Also the crowd isn't stupid, you can hear the guy clearly in the video "Oh those people got nailed." They knew what was going on. New NHRA rule.. get people off the fences and away from the track. You buy a grandstand seat or you stay out. Should have been done long ago.

It's a felony to abuse the DMCA to claim a copyright to have a video yanked. Google "Michelle Malkin DMCA" and let your reading begin. And when filing a claim for false copyright, please explain who was damaged and for what dollar amount that person was damaged?![]()

Dave, are you going to quit driving if you witness someone getting killed on the highway? Sounds like it.
Yes, it is. If the NHRA claims a copyright for something they don't own, to get it pulled, that is a DMCA abuse, and a potential felony. I just spoke with Kurt Opsahl from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (the person who represented Michelle Malkin against UMG record company's false DMCA copyright claim) and he said he highly doubts that NHRA can legitimately claim they own the copyright to any pictures or video shot by spectators, regardless of the language on the back of the ticket. The general rule of law is that whoever shot the pictures or video is the copyright holder. I'm emailing him the scan of the back of a ticket soon. He told me if I can find out who shot and uploaded the video he'd love to talk to them about this situation. Not at all the same case, but thanks for playing. Good luck with your claim!

NHRA doesn't want to show respect, they want to cover their butts. I've been at this for a fair chunk of time too. I'm also into photography and photographers rights. When I see the NHRA abusing a copyright claim to get a video yanked that pisses me off. The person that shot that vid owns the copyright, not NHRA.Great Brent now your chummin for sharks...im mean lawyers, it was a lo res video of just what we all thought a tire bouncing into a group of people at the end of the grand stands next to the fence in front of some haulers. Im just speculating but I am sure the folks at NHRA want to show respect for the family of the fallen fan. We all love NHRA Drag Racing or we wouldnt waste our time posting on these forums. Darrs been around this game for a while and I bet he is correct.
