Lohnes made it sound like Antron is switching. Seems odd unless he wants a new challenge.

Most of the top fuel dragsters are self sponsored. Antron has a sponsor, the funny cars get sponsors because they are billboards and the sponsors can see their money spent from tv close-ups'. Antron would benefit his present sponsor and future sponsors by having a funny car. most sponsor ships don't last for ever and he is looking for the future.

Clay Milligan isn't bad neither.
About a year and a half ago I came to find out that some people think the opposite of Ashley. When he got sick at Pomona, the amount vitriol was crazy. I couldn't believe it. Long story short, a lot of people online think that he's like his father and its all an act. Very unfair.

Agree. Clay is a showman but I don’t think he would want to switch to F/C.
Ashley. Hmmm…I can’t bring myself to like him too much. I seem to root against him, the opposite of Clay Millican.

Clay would be the best choice IMO, but I’m not sure he would switch to F/C.
Recently in his sitdown with Ron Capps, Clay said that initially the plan was for him to race Funny Car when Doug Stringer called.

yeah, I saw the interview with Capps. Interesting tidbits that came out of that, including the different IRHA weight and fuel % regs (heavier and less, resp.) that I was not at all aware of.
At Denver (I think), Clay was talking to John in the staging lanes and floated the idea of driving John Force’s car at Dallas, and vice versa, and John really didn’t say one way or another. Hmmm. Makes you think.
John is blowing bodies off, crashing into walls, and into other people at the top end these days (fortunately unhurt, miraculously), so could he be thinking of getting out of the car and letting someone else drive? I don’t think this would happen, but again….makes you think.

It was almost explicitly stated that Antron would have a F/C under his wing next season, but Antron did not rise to take the bait in an interview with Fox Finish Line Blondie.

Lohnes said during the Sonoma night qualifying session that Antron’s team would be getting a new car, and that the body would be on a hinge. Nothing more was said on that show as far as I know.

Well, if this does come to pass, would think Antron will be in a Supra, as he already has Toyota sponsorship.
I don't believe it either. Justin is not only a hell of a driver but comes across as a warm, enthusiastic and intelligent young businessman. His old man has paid his dues. Time to put the past in the past.
How dis he pay his dues?
