Lets hope it doesnt happen. I can see no prep 8th mile but not local brackets,if you cant afford to run your car to the qtr then you shouldnt be racing, just my opinion,every1 has 1 lol. I used to run maple grove all the time but ever since "prescious" took over it changed to 8th mile and i wont support it,so i go to a qtr track and race.No need to be concerned over something that's never going to happen.
Local 1/8 mile works because the spectators can see the entire race; it's cheaper for the racers, most of who are local, unsponsored racers on a budget, it's become the standard for the big/small tire and no-prep stuff and many tracks (including ours) sit on property that can't handle 1/4 mile racing. And the incremental 305mph to the 660 is a hell of an accomplishment, regardless of how you look at it.
We went through all of this when the purists said they'd never attend another national event after the switch to 1000 feet 17 years ago. Some people still don't like it. Myself, I'm OK with 3.64/343 but maybe that's just me.
Sorry that 8th mile talk get me worked up lol
no prob.......just take a deep breath and this too shall passSorry that 8th mile talk get me worked up lol
Take the timing retard off and I'd guess 4.35/353 with conditions like Sonoma. A 10mph gain is about all you'd get due to intense aero drag coming into play at those speeds. Prepare the Safety Safari because there's a strong likelihood that thing is going to do a Mt. St. Helens imitation in the traps if they were to try it.What would a gpod guesstimate for ET and speed be if Brittany did that pass on a 1/4 mile track with all 8 candles lit through the entire 1320?
my understanding is they wanted him to relocate to Michigan and he didn't want to.it's too bad grubby had a falling out with kalitta, instead of a healthy relationship transitioning from driver to tuner.
to even think grubby tuned clay to a 3.62 all those years ago, on what was most likely a limited budget.
I remember when, as a driver, Grubby double stepped it at the line and I think that was his last time as a driver for Connie....I just figured that was the end of it, I don't remember him crew chiefing for them.my understanding is they wanted him to relocate to Michigan and he didn't want to.
Yes Grubby did double step during qualifying and his days at Kalitta motor sports came to a end. a phone call to JR Todd and a airplane ride to the track to finish the race with JR. I think it was a win win for both of them in the end.I remember when, as a driver, Grubby double stepped it at the line and I think that was his last time as a driver for Connie....I just figured that was the end of it, I don't remember him crew chiefing for them.
they offered to keep him on after the double step in some capacity in Ypsilanta but he didn't want to move.I remember when, as a driver, Grubby double stepped it at the line and I think that was his last time as a driver for Connie....I just figured that was the end of it, I don't remember him crew chiefing for them.
Harry, I'm glad that someone else realizes that mile an hour are just numbers. Reaction times and close racing are the bestWell all that MPH doesn't win races.
That's all I'm saying. Lol
Everyone knows that and every racing forum has made it clear, oh, about a thousand times. But it sure does excite a lot of people, including Brittany herself, her team, the TV announcers, pitside reporters, Amanda Busick and especially the fans who were on their feet whooping and hollering like crazy. No, it doesn't pay anything directly but the thought of getting to watch a 343mph car is going to put a lot of butts in the seats at the next race and ensure that big M stays on the side of Brittany's car. And that's worth something.Well all that MPH doesn't win races.
That's all I'm saying. Lol
