what a day. recording got all messed cuz of plane crash / delay. oh well.
couldn't be happier for antron: love this man. his whole M.O. how he lives his life. very inspiring.
couldn't be happier for greg: the old man from MN gets it done again. dallas will have his day. a great 1-2 finish for KB Titan. (like brian commented, by thousandths the last few finals)
jack beckman: second place finish and holds trophy at end of day. if he doesn't come back, the last thing he did in drag racing is hold the trophy at the finals
austin prock: what a 'rip your heart out' performance to close the year. it's like watching john all those championship years. no one could touch him. a great 1-2 finish for JFR.
congrats to TS racer and race sponsor, Lynsi Snyder-Ellington on her round 4 finish.
__________
Mark Oswald steps away from drag racing. congratulations Mark on a great career, you finished in style yesterday.

Agreed !! I was fortunate to have worked with Mark on John Lawson's Funny Car years ago. I have all the respect in the world for Mark. Well done Sir

Shout-out to Greg Anderson for Championship #6. He can still compete with the kids! His last two races he lost by .002 and .005, then he wins the run for the championship by .002. I think that was the only time this year he led the points. Got to know him since he was crew chief and part time racer for George Marnell. Very happy for him.
Didn't watch pro stock. Did he thank Warren Johnson?

a little math says WJ was 58 when he won his last PS title in 2001 (his 6th) ..... GA is 63 with his 6th ...... erica is 41 with her (6) titles
in the last 32 years, since 1992 when WJ won his first PS title, 47% of PS titles have been won by 3 guys born
in almost the same geographical region of northern MN

Funny man! Actually I have had a lot of discussions with Greg over the years and have not heard any criticism of WJ from Greg.
I was watching and attending races when Warren was still driving and Greg was his crew chief. I seem to remember he wasn't all that happy when Greg left because he wanted to drive. But their wasn't a spot because Kurt was driving the 2nd car. Greg was responsible for a lot of Warren's success, hope their still friends.

Does anyone recall what Greg's health scare was about a decade ago? I noticed a definite positive change in altitude afterwards. I'm one week post-op on a heart valve replacement and, believe me, it changes you.

I hope so too. When Commerce closed Greg mentioned he was trying to get WJ in a car that weekend so hopefully they still are.

Greg did drive a test car for WJ at one point, but I don't believe it was ever in competition. George Howard booked eight ProStock cars into Huntsville Dragway in the '96-'97 timeframe. WJ, KJ, Allen Johnson and Greg Anderson driving a WJ Cutlass were the only cars that showed.

Yes, it does, been there done that. I had the very same thing as Greg, but mine was discovered by accident during a CT scan. and it was 7.5 CM. Guess I can claim I beat Greg Anderson. LOL I was in the Cleveland Clinic 3 wks. after the discovery. lol

I ran into Greg at Autorama one year before the health scare. I’d always thought his attitude was negative too. I stopped him walking down an aisle at Autorama just to say hey. In fact, when I saw him I said “Greg Anderson?” He must have stood there and chatted with us for a good 10 minutes or so. Was just the nicest, most down to earth dude. Definitely changed my opinion of what I thought I saw at the track and in the interviews. He’s definitely all business at the races. I guess that’s why he’s been so successful as a tuner and a driver.

Indeed. And on his way out, NHRA should have handed him the G.O.A.T. award - as in Grenade Of All Time. Dallas, 1990.
I was holding up the fence at the finish line when that thing went off. Geezus.
