1/8 Mile Drag Racing

Several years ago I was at Famosa for a Saturday night Nitro event, Sitting in the stands, I noticed that at leas 90% of the people followed the cars to the 1/8th mile then looked back to the starting line to see what was next. Only exception was if one was out of shape, on fire, or some other potential issue.

I find that hard to believe. In my experience (at the Nationals), 90% of the fans watch to see which scoreboard lights up, and you can't see that looking at the starting line.

That would be easy. Shrink the size of the stands back to what it was in the 60s.

I think that a Drag Racing historian (could be you) said that many moons ago, you would just show up and make a pass to qualify. No set schedule or # of runs. Just get on the sheet to qualify.
That's partly why the stands were full, they didn't know who or what was next.

I know it's hard to get to the stands after Nitro is done in order to watch Super Gas! Everyone is going to the restroom I guess. 😄
