Worlds Fastest Indian (1 Viewer)

Lol this is something that was written about burt munro's bike in the booklet with the collecters edition dvd .

BURT'S ENGINEERING

- Burt cast his own heads
- Machined his own rocker gear
- Cast and machined his own pistons
- Machined his own con rod from axles
- Made his own frly wheel made from hydraulic ram shafts
- Raised the compression to run on ethanol
- Split the cam shaft to make 4 cam lobes on two cams to operate the overhead valve assembly
- Reversed the pedals so that the right foot changed the gears and the left foot was the clutch

THE BIKE

-1920 Indian Scout 600cc side valve was converted to 1000cc overhead valve v-twin
- 22 inches off the ground at the top clamp
- 33 inches high at the highest point
- The streamliner body was 12 feet long
- The streamliner body was made in two halves split on its vertical centre line
- Wheel base 60 1/2 inches
- The Indian was ridden in a kneeling position

And the amazing part of it all is he did it all on the tiniest of budgets and lived in a little shed .

I watched it three times the christmas before last whil flying too and rom Australia for Christmas.

LOVED IT!!

I saw it at the cinema again early last year for the big screen experience.

I bought it on DVD the other week and have since watched it again.

I admire those guys at Bonneville, and Burt' story is a great one.

Anthony Hopkins is a GENIUS!
