Don Schumacher says he wants a character. The name the Three Ring Circus on the side of my car is an accurate description. Only problem is I don't drive. However my partner, Al Ackerman, does drive (and well I might add) and he is a character as well. Lee Zane can be a bit of character, also drives well and both Al and Lee have a lot of character. So I nominate the two of them.
Something to consider, as was pointed out, Don wants a character. Just last week Gary filled in as the speaker at the Ken Black function when John Force wasn't up for it. Nobody complained. Driving the car is only part of it. Do you have any idea how many requests DSR and Gary get to do appearances? Not because he's a racecar driver, but because he's a personality. That's going to be the hard part to replace.

How about James Day??? He's got experiance driving nitro, young, connected. I'd vote for him. OR Mick Snyder. GREAT TAFC. Or Dave Hirata great driver character.
You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that but Scotty Cannon is a very likable and straight up guys that were out there.
He was always a crowd favorite who treats his fans great and has a sense of humor when needed. I would like to see him get a second chance.
I also realize image is important they were fine with Gary. Scotty is near the same age and if Jim were to take his team some where else it would make it even more atractive to him.
My feelings are I think Jim will stay with Don and they will come up with a good decission either way and if it's not Scotty then JR would definitely fit the bill that guy has it all!
Doc - you are normally such a reasonable poster! Where did you come up with a ridiculous idea like this? Remember, "Castrol has Ashley locked in".
Stay tuned -
I don't think a driver bringing money to a team has anything to do with who will be driving the Oakley FC in 2008. It just might be about a driver who could attract fans who are not currently Oakley customers. JMHO
