I have been watching fuel cars since 1966. When 1000' became the norm in 2007, of course I didn't like it.....especially while attending races soon after the switch and watching the majority of the drivers leg it to the "old" finish line. Here we are more than a half decade later and I really don't care if it's 1320 or 1000'. What hooked me on this sport was the snap, crackle, pop of nitromethane. That hasn't changed. I remember back in the late '60s early '70s an eighth mile track that was close to home and when they booked in a match race or whatever, Nitro is what brought people to the seats.
