OK maybe I should say Johns car. Should Coil and Bernie should start getting advice from Prock? It seems to me that these cars are built similar enough that they should have similar results but Coil sure seems to be struggling to get it down track. I am sure there is a very fine line between smoke or no smoke but may it be time to really incorporate that "brain trust" plan?

Well, it wasn't John today. He had three on Ashley (in spite of a terrible RT) at the tree, but there was no way he was gonna pedal and catch her!
As far as the "Brain Trust" deal, you might want to take a look at how well the "Crew Chief by Committee" is working at Kalitta -

My wife and I were talking about this the other day. I may be off the mark, but maybe they are trying some new stuff with John's car to gather more data. With the emphasis being on the younger generation right now, maybe those cars are utilizing some of the "old" technology that they know works, while John's car is being used to test new stuff. Not that it would be like that forever, but originally that seemed to be the intent of having multi car teams, so that you could stay ahead of the technology curve. Again, no basis of fact whatsoever in this post, just a theory.

With John's desire to win and seemingly deep pockets I would have to think he would't want anything but a win light on race day and save the testing for test days.

But, I think John said something on TV early in the season (yeah, after almost 30 years, I understand "Force Speak") that they were using the "AAA" clutch in all the cars and it was different from the "Feel" he was used to... and was "harder" to catch (Peddle) as quickly...
