I don't care what anybody says.... I still want to see a top fuel dragster handicapped against say, a 15 second factory car!
Wouldn't that be interesting - to see say, Larry Dixon in the Sheik's rail.... sitting there after the burnout, both pumps on, with both bulbs lit... while....like, Mike Smith is roaring down through there at half track in his 2006 Buick LaSabre at a whopping 78 mph. After about 11 seconds or so have passed, LD twitches his feet, shakes the ground, and whizzes by Mike's Buick right at the 1/4 mile mark to take the win????? :D

Do you want to be the one in the Buick @ 78mph, and have a TFer blow past you at 300+ ??...................not me.

Kinda.. Mike Dunn (in Hererts spare car) raced Dave Reif in a GXP (I think) in Joliet year before last. The goal was to stand on the gas on the TF car for only one second and see who won.

yea that was kinda cool to see....i remember too though that Dunn kinda screwed up...he hit the fuel shut off at about half track and forgot that it brings the idle up and makes the car move quicker

Years ago, my dad was running an A/A and made a pass beside a top fuel car. When the fuel car went by, it shot some debri that hit my dad in the goggles. It actually shattered the safety glass. He had the presence of mind to not blink much until the ambulance guys could flush his eye out.....
Big Time scarey deal though.............

my first thought is it seems incredibly dangerous to me ..

the closing rate between the two cars would be huge, and if something happened and one of them crossed the centerline ouch ..

no way you'd get me in the Buick, in that instance..
