Was there no mention of Harry Schmidt's passing?

I saw nothing of it on either Saturday's or Sunday's telecast. If I somehow missed it, then so be it, but if there WAS nothing mentioned, then epic FAIL, NHRA/ ESPN!!!

The NHRA needs to embrace it's history a whole lot more than it does. Fans need to know how we got here and appreciate the huge sacrifices and efforts made in the not-so-distant past by our founding fathers. Guys like Gary Densham, Ed McCulloch, Jim Dunn and Connie Kalitta are a huge link to the past, yet are rarely appreciated on air. Nobody even seemed to notice when The Ace left and that's insane to me. Yet the media fall all over themselves to hear one of today's "sanitized" drivers read their sponsor list. Harry was one of the OG funny car guys and needs to be respected as such.

Somehow you guys expect that the NHRA has changed it's stripes?

The honorees during the 60th NHRA anniversary celebration should be an indication of the "legends" the sanctioning body has recognized.

I agree 100% Bill. They beat the same things over and over, but miss out on the guy who created the Blue Max. Give me a break !!!! That's ridiculous. They need a change in personnel. You mean to tell me there wasn't one person who thought that a piece should be added remembering Harry Schmidt ???? WTF !!!

Not defending the NHRA, but it seems like in the past, they've done a good job covering the loss of a racer. But I have to agree, this was an epic fail, hopefully they remember during this weekend's coverage. On the other hand, Phil Burgess did a great on the website, as usual.
