When do you think the funny car 1000’ foot national record of 3.79 will get broken? Probably never!
Think we will even see a high 3.80 run before the end of the year?
Selling a lesser show! Way to go NHRA!
Yes, but it’s seems it’s mostly due to the higher funded team having a bad run and not like the lower funded team is out racing them. It’s still the haves and have nots and some are out there just filling the fields with little hope of beating the other side on a clean run.I love seeing how many of the lesser funded teams have been going rounds. It's no longer a given who will win first rounds.
At least now it's not strictly whoever has the most money to throw at it wins. They leveled the playing field and accomplished what they needed to do, slow down the fuel cars.

Being born and raised in Denver, I have no idea how I became a diehard drag racing fan watching such a slower show over the last 40 years.
Mt Evans is about an hours drive west of Bandimere. It has the highest pavedI was in Miramonte @ 10,000 ft I am surprised you are still alive...gasp..........a lot of guys got sick there, could not sleep.........
LarryThey felt that they needed to do something to slow the cars. This was the easiest, cheapest and fairest way to do it. Sure it might not make for record performances but there is some surprise racing going on. Once the tuners have enough data the gap from last year's time to this year's will narrow a bit.
Imagine if we had messages boards when they changed rear ends and nitro percentage. How many "they'll never run X.XX or X mph ever again" were there? These men and women live to go fast and to squeeze everything they can out of the rules. This is just a minor blip that they will overcome.
Larry Crisp is the track specialist at Bandimere. All concrete surface with cooling coils under the starting area. They felt that they needed to do something to slow the cars.
