I just read that over on Comp Plus, I'm sorry to see him retire. Was this kind of a sudden decision?
 
I remember an interview or something where Jim approached Bob Glidden. He'd been thinking about getting started in Pro Stock, and asked Bob if he had any advice for him.

"Yeah." he was told. "Don't!"

Or something like that.

The only thing that doesn't change is change. Sorry to see Jim retire. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
 
It didn't smack of something permanent to me.

If someone shows up with a pile of sponsor dollars ... we will see Yates back.

In any event, Jim is a good dude, and it was my privilege to watch him race ...
