You're askin' ME? I'm the guy who didn't know "carbides" had been used for years on flywheels! We'll be out early tomorrow, I'll try to corner my close personal friend AJ and force an answer out of him -

SWAG? - TF teams trying to emulate AJ tuneup and getting it wrong.

Oh no...NOT this subject again.

Come on Lee... Of all the reasons to go to 1000', the cost savings one was the one they had to put their flag on... Couldn't say it made the racing safer, as there is really no distance that can truly make racing safer. Can't say it made the racing more competitive, as there were MANY examples last year of the losing car coming on strong and being just short.. And the parts were all supposed to last longer because they were less stressed out... Sorry- this is the second race of the season.

This thread isn't for those that are happy with the present situation.

Kinda fell asleep right after T-Ped broke his toy... he sounded confused why it went boom... I guess from this thread, some pipe-racks became dirt road dust abatement rigs after I z'd out:rolleyes:?

who are these Ace/Capps guys?:D

I say we change the football field to 60 yards.
Should save on injuries.

I say we change Daytona Motor Speedway to a 1/2 mile track.
Should save the "big one" from happening.

I say we lower the basketball hoop to 9'
That should make everybody look and play like Mike.

1000'?
This will be the slow death of NHRA drag racing.
Sadly, it's now a totally different sport than what it was before.

I know im a low poster but I do a lot of reading and love this site and sport.
I've been to the Brainerd Nats every year since 1987.
I couldn't agree more and am p%$# off at NHRA's lame excuses. Cut the racetracks out of the National series that do not have sufficient shutdown room and bring back the quarter mile! Its tradition!
Now I watch and the numbers mean nothing! I feel like im watching an exhibition event!!!
Now I just go to drink booze and smell nitro!

Personally I think both of your arguments are whacked! But that's just my opinion.

After 2 rounds in the 'Zona' 13 cars are over 300mph. and all with low 3.90 runs.

320ft more to shutdown - and no... the boomers didn't save any money on those runs.

Hey I run with a guy that gets to race both 1320ft and 1000ft - sure we like the quarter mile - but we also have no problems with running 1000ft. And if our tuner and crew do it right - we roll back into the pits with rods inside the motor and heads and blowers still bolted to it.

Wanna run 3.70 in a 1000ft race? Bring cash and spare blocks...

ah jim, i was asking an honest question... i fell asleep right after T-peds fire... and i asked the question in a joking manner...

I agree about the numbers ,John. Can't get my mind around them. Heard the right ones for to many years.

You can't just "cut off" the short tracks, because several of those short tracks are part of your revered "tradition". To name two, Pomona and Englishtown. Tell me you're going to cut off the two largest markets in the US (LA and NY) from live drag racing? And the "home track" of the NHRA? I don't think so...

Sorry about that - picked up the wrong quote... i didn't have any issue with your statement... not that I have issue with anyone's statement - just making discussion...
