Put your fork away, I've been to Bristol when there was a 100% chance of rain and we raced all day to conclusion. The bad part was some fans were upset because they stayed home and we raced without them. I've also been there when it was raining on the circle track and we were still racing.

Epping also had a bad forecast and was run to completion.

Have a little faith.

Alan

they've been running since 8am today and no stoppage in show yet.
a few sportsman did pull out due to forecast. 37 & 38 for STK and SS, something like that.

Hope you're right. Hate to see a rainout. :(

clay's got the beef again this weekend. sure would like to see that team rebound from last few lackluster races.
vincent nobile driving a MMPS this weekend.
Rain now, 100 percent for Saturday and Saturday night but Sunday looks like it might clear. Hope so.

I wish, on the NHRA.com live timing data feed…. That (when warranted) they would add a short, one sentence comment … I.e. track cleanup delay; or… weather delay. All you see is the time stamp. Which means all the fans sitting at home see is that Paul Lee and Matt Hagan aparantly must be still sitting in their cars as of 8:15pm. How hard would that be to add? It would improve the fan experience. I don’t expect an in-depth account or a novel. A few words…. As in…WTF is going on? Why are we on hold? LOL

Not good news from www.DragRaceCentral.com:

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Saturday run schedule for the 24th annual Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

Weather prediction for today :
Thunderstorms likely in the morning. Then a chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. High 78F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%.

I agree, living in Western TN now for three years, the storms and rain are crazy to predict. Or the weather people are always on on a DOOMS DAY attitude. At my house it seems like most storms will shift directions just before getting to my house. I'd say that the hills and mountains have a lot to do with it.

Alan has forever humbled this Debbie Downer....LOL

Glad to see I jumped the gun. Looks like the race will complete as scheduled. They may have to dry the track and delay the start of the race in the morning but by noon all looks good.

How strange was it to see cars get loose with the sudden cloud burst on the big end Y/D (and today)?
I've seen it a few times, but Alan has probably lost count of the times he has...
The WX is more Screwy-L00wEY than ever, and it's not getting better YET, so you deal with it at the time.
The power of positivity will prevail!

I wouldn’t exactly call them jets. My wife thought they were lawn mowers. Bristol Motor Speedway, which is owned by the same company, has actual jet engine powered track dryers. But maybe they also go from track to track?

NHRA has JETS (just like you are describing) There is one that goes to all National events, and a couple Divisions also have one, so some Nationals have more than one NHRA-owned jet dryer on the property.

So,...wasn't that a rather "abrupt" conclusion to the event today? ~:)~
My wife & I commented several times about the lack of information or updates while/when things go silent.
Not a fan of that myself. Going to be a good day tomorrow though.
