I missed the Gainesville race, what happened to Stevie Jackson. I seen he didnt qualify but no reason why. I was surprised he sat out the Doorslammer Nationals, figured they were maybe testing for Gainesville and would have their crap on kill.

I think he wrecked car in qualifing !

Lol, he didn't break and he didn't wreck. He just didn't run well enough to qualify, which was obviously very surprising.

Qualifying Session #1
Left Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 5.752/250.13, Now #3
Right Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 8.180/120.51, Now #19
Snider with a good looking pass, straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. Brandon Snider's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.559, 660ft-3.793/198.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.854.
Jackson with severe tire shake and clicked it off.

Qualifying Session #2
Left Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 8.964/108.15, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.960/219.72, Was #19
Right Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 5.851/246.89, Now #13; Best prior run: 8.180/120.51, Was #25
Satterfield is real loose right at the hit and clicks it off.
Jackson is straight down the grove to get in the show. Steve Jackson's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.596, 660ft-3.863/195.31 mph, 1,000ft-4.941.

Qualifying Session #3
Left Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 5.828/246.84, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.851/246.89, Was #20
Right Lane: Lyle Barnett Runs 5.714/252.66, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.936/243.55, Was #23
Jackson with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show. Steve Jackson's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.585, 660ft-3.838/195.65 mph, 1,000ft-4.917.
Barnett launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his career quickest and fastest pass in his first NHRA race to go to the number three spot. Lyle Barnett's incremental times: 60ft-0.938 sec., 330ft-2.519, 660ft-3.763/198.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.822.

It's amazing that a 5.82 wasn't enough to get into the show.
Well the pro charger combination was fairly dominant in Gainesville. Now I’m not sure of the details but NHRA did not add any weight to the combination but they did make an adjustment to the gear ratio. I will try to find out the details but it’s really going to hurt the teams that are unable to test prior to Atlanta. I’m sure the ProLine and Elite teams will find some performance back but others will most certainly struggle.

Thanks guys for the info. I did catch Sweet 16 Alan, def a solid day. I figured he would have his hands full with Pharris, that .007 light was killer. That Procharger combo is wicked. We ran one on a Cummins pulling truck years ago, never really got the combo to work the way we felt it could, but it was uncharted territory and the rules kinda hindered us. The new Procharger stuff is lightyears above what we had back then

I hear you Samuel. I remember the first time I saw Johnny Rocca and the class known as Pro Modified at an IHRA race in Rockingham, North Carolina 20 years ago, I was blown away by the fact full body door slammers were able to run in the 6 teens-6.30 range. Fast forward 20 years, and running in the low 5.80s might not be enough to get you in the Pro Mod show. Humans, and their ability to engineer, is always worth taking a step back and admiring.

Chris,
Has the pro charger made the rest of the combinations obsolete? At least with the blown alcohol and injected nitro debate, there are pros and cons to running either combination. I'm not sure there are enough cons with the pro charger that would make the pros of running nitrous/turbocharger/supercharger worth the time and investment. To think of it another way, if the big auto manufacturers (GM, Ford, Cummins, Volkswagen, Toyota, etc.) are going to continue making internal combustion engines (or diesel) for at least a little while, would any of them consider any other power adder besides a pro charger? Does any drag racer build a motor with a power adder other than the pro charger? Hmmm....

I just realized I didn't give the proper credit for my earlier post. My bad. The results from Pro Mod qualifying I posted were copy and pasted from www.dragracecentral.com
