As I live in Nebraska and we have no professional stick and ball sports at all available, I am a reviving Husker fan. Sorta gave up on them and the very tired option, but with Callahan, they're fun to watch again! They ain't the best, and their mid 20s ranking is just about right to my way of thinking, but they are much improved over last year, and I think Coach C is on the right track. Hope he gets to stay long enough to get things really rolling before he gets fired! And Tim, I hope we can take care of Oklahoma for you. Texas rules the big 12 right now. Congrats!

Taking care of Oklahoma would be GREAT!!! I never seen such a disrespectful coach(IN MY TIME) as Bob Stoops always doing the "horns down" hand sign and some of the comments about Texas. I can understand players doing the "horns down", but to come from the coach just seems beyond me.
I always pull for teams in the Big12 when they arent playing Texas...except for OU! Terry, tomorrows game should be agood one between our teams...I just wish they were playing here!

I don't ever recall seeing Stoops doing that. The only coach I can remember giving the upside-down horns was Houston Nutt from Arkansas, now THAT caused quite a ruckus. All of Bob's comments that I've seen toward the Texas team have always been respectful. If you've got links that show otherwise, either for the horns-down thing or poor comments, please post 'em up, I'd like to see what you're talking about. In any case the OU/Texas rivalry is one of the greatest in college football and I sincerely hope that it never moves from The Cotton Bowl. I'll cheerfully put up with a crappy stadium as long as the game remains in the middle of the Texas State Fair, it's a setting that is absolutely unparalleled.

I feel bad for the sec teams. Auburn, Florida & Tenn are each very good but add in lsu and Arkansas and they just beat up on each other. Some of the best football but without a playoff they hurt themselves in this system.
Tell me about it... The SEC is brutal... Hard to get a national champ out of this conference because the competition is so tough, & add in a SEC championship game that you have to survive as well...

THE WAHOOS ROLL AT HOME DESPITE THE ABSENCE OF BULLARD IN THE STANDS!!

So, you don't show up and they win? :D Maybe you just need a turnover!

Aren't they called Hokies or something? Yeah, I'm a bad east Tennessean. I'm supposed to have a spare (if not a main one!) vehicle painted orange with "Vols" all over it.

And I love the signature, PJ. Might have to try some of those "sensitivity" classes myself someday if I can drink about a gallon of coffee before I go.

not only have you guys been to the super bowl you've won a few. We haven't even been. I believe you guys have even made the playoffs under wacko Snyder....the Lions are roughly 22-64 under the Millen era

We've been lousy every since Dan took over. We made the playoffs last year, but we still weren't that good. It seems like ages ago when the Redskins were one of the top teams in the NFL. Dan's Skins are lousy because he spends more & gets less out of everything he does with the football team. The 'Skins are the most expensive team in the League... but who would want to buy what they have right now --- you could buy them, but then you'd have to clean house and bring in an entirely new philosophy & attitude-----you can't buy character, working ethics, loyalty, etc. I'll always be a loyal & passionate Redskin fan through all that might happen but it hurts bad to see them like this.

That said... I feel your pain for your Lions. Oneday maybe they'll fire Millen(sp?)

During Oklahoma's win streak against Texas a few years back is when we( The group I was watching the game with) saw him do it several times. At the end of the game, Stoops ran out onto the field with both hands, Horns down to shake hands with Mack Brown. NO, I do not have a link to post showing him do it, but he has done it several times in past games since. Luckily, the past 2 years havent been good for Oklahoma against Texas to show "Horns down":D
I agree with the rivalry being held at the Cotton bowl during the State fair. The old stadium has SO MUCH history there and it would never be the same if it were moved to another venue.

I guess Florida State has finally dropped off the map as of today.Losing to BC was a joke.I've really tried hard not to get on the Jeff Bowden bandwagon, but I may jump aboard after today.

At least my other team (The Minnesota Vikings) are at least attempting to play.

And the Twins... let's not go there.

I'm just waiting till' November 18th when the National Championship is played in Columbus and Ohio State finally proves who is #1, The Buckeyes!!!!!!:)

Ohio State is clearly the best team in college football this year. I think they will pull it off against Michigan during there meeting, I just hope they both stay undefeated until then so it will be a "nail biter" of a game to see who goes to play for the title. I just wish the team they were playing against would be Texas, but I dont think Texas will move up that far. I do beleive Texas still has a chance for a BCS bid though if they stay a 1 loss team.

anybody have a prediction of who will be in the BCS bowls this year?

We can top all your miserable situations with our ?Pro? team! Here in Arizona we don't need gravity. The Cardinals suck enough to compensate for the lack of it. If our luck continues, Oakland will actually get their first win of the season and probably their only win of the season at the hands of our great and powerful Cardinals. The same hands that naturally rest in a choking position around our necks.

See what I mean?

Tim, It WAS a great game to watch. Of course, I wish NU could have emerged victorious, but it was just a situation of NU making too many mistakes to beat a team as good as Texas. Well done, 'Horns! Who knows, if the big red doesn't self-destruct, we might see another meeting between the two teams in the big 12 championship!

I agree with you 100%
Go Buckeyes

As a sign at Michigan Stadium read: "We're coming for you, Tressel"! :D I've never anticipated a MICHIGAN/ohio st. game more. Should be a classic. Ohio State definitely deserves their current ranking... but that will change Nov. 18th! I hope...

Vincent I feel your pain! I'm a born and raised Michigander but I am a HUGE Redskins fan. I think I became a Redskin fan about the time I got old enough to realize that the Lions were my home pro team! :o As much as I was excited to see Gibbs return I was very concerned about his reputation being tarnished while trying to operate under Snyder's control.

GO BLUE!!!

Hey, Tim! Just checked your bio and see that your birthday is Aug. 5! So is mine! Unfortunately, several years before you were born!

I once heard a rumor that my school had a football team, but we were too busy watching basketball practice to much care. Just 2 more weeks until Maui. GO BIG BLUE!

(University of Kentucky)

Though a car accident meant I lost my athletic scholarship the summer before my first year, I'm still a 'CANE in my heart! Its all about the U!!!!! Go Miami!
