Spokane County Raceway going IHRA in 2015

The SCR website is announcing that they will be an IHRA track next year. NHRA loses another track. I wonder what the story is behind the change over?

Spokane was the last bastion of the AHRA (carried that sanction til '08), and until recently was embroiled in several lawsuits resulting in the County taking over and running the property. While it is fashionable to kick Compton and Light around here, this one can't be put on them in any way. They are probably glad this mess is off their hands ...

Spokane County Raceway gets an IHRA National Event, not even remotely going to happen with NHRA. Other than awarding national events, the sanctioning bodies are primarily a method of obtaining group liability insurance.

Darr, thanks for the news about an IHRA National Event at SCR. We go to at least one NHRA Nat most years and have wanted to go to an IHRA event for years but there aren't/weren't any close to the NW.

Spokane will have a NitroJam event next year the weekend following Seattle. This will be the flagship race for IHRA on the west coast.
