Smith Hopes to Run Strong Again In St. Louis
The 2007 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion sits third in the point standings heading into St. Louis, but he hopes to change all that after this weekend. Sitting less than two rounds out of the lead, Matt Smith hopes to dominate as he did last year at Gateway and take over the top spot with his Nitrofish Buell.

Having some tuning difficulties last time out in Commerce, Georgia, Smith knows this weekend he is going to have to be on his A-game.

Last year Smith captured the most points possible (138) at an NHRA event, when he set the new national record, qualified No. 1 and won the race in St. Louis, Smith knows the same thing could happen again this year.

“Conditions are going to be awesome this weekend,” said Smith. “Someone is going to walk away with the new national record, mark my words, and hopefully it will be us. We had some problems last weekend, but we’ve got it all sorted out now. It should be a very interesting weekend and a very fast one at that. It will be great for the fans!”

After winning St. Louis last year, Smith went on a hot streak. He won three more races, as well as the POWERade Championship, and he is looking to get that momentum rolling again this weekend.
