Smith Hopes to Make it Two in a Row Again

Matt Smith, rider of the Nitrofish Buell is not only the most recent Pro Stock Motorcycle winner on tour, but he is the defending winner of the Sonoma race as well.
Coming off an extremely good weekend at Denver, where he won, two weeks ago, Smith hopes to keep that momentum going as he heads to Cali this weekend. Last year Smith swept both west coast events and at this point the 2007 NHRA POWERade Champion looks as if he is going to do it again.
“We are running well right now,” said Smith. “Obviously we would like to be running better, but we have a new bike we will bring out soon that should be faster. We stayed in Denver for the last week and wired everything up and ran it. It is going to be a great bike, for sure, but right now we are going to focus on trying to win Sonoma again. We want that top spot going into the Countdown.”
With Smith winning his first consecutive events in Denver and winning Sonoma last year, he looks like the favorite heading into the season’s half way point.
