I guess I must be dense, cause I didn't. Please explain.

I could be wrong here, but isn't 6.847 faster than 6.87? Hector must be cheating.
Geez,
For some years now, Drag Racing in general and Pro Level NHRA seemed to have been gender-blind and color-blind. Somehow, if you ran the number, you were the man.
I don't know Matt's heart or Michael's heart (Heck, nobody was a better story when he finally won some races) but, I don't follow Drag Racing 'cause I want to argue left or right politics or worry about racial politics. I heard the comment during the broadcast and thought (hoped) I'd mis-heard it. In any event, if either one of these fellas' has a problem with the other, they oughta' take it outside the fence (metaphorically speaking) or shut-up about it.
It's the kind of thing that is going to sully anybody who touches it (and I don't want my sport to be another socio-political minefield).

I wonder what they found after they took sledge hammers to the engines.![]()
They couldn't find it in Eckman's either...well not until he accidentally showed it![]()
Bad example there. The NHRA just wanted a fall guy and Jerry was sadly it.
Bad example? They blew the f#^!in oil tank across the pits. I have no doubt you're right that NHRA was looking for a fall guy(s), but the Eckman/Orndorff group made it too easy.
I always found it amazing that they would destroy expensive engines to cover their @$$'s.
If I remember correctly it was just the blocks that got the sledgehammer treatment. Blocks aren't that expensive, and I'm sure they'd rather sacrifice a couple of those to the sledgehammer than admit they were cheating. Any engine builder worth a crap keeps detailed notes of what they've built. To not be able to duplicate their performance after the "break-in" speaks volumes.

Most of what I've seen of Michael Phillips is chip-on-the-shoulder arrogant. I'll say it right to his face if I'm ever given the chance. That may be an unfair assumption...some will say he's really decent off-track... but I call 'em like I see 'em...and that's what I see of him. Arrogance.

As I understand it, it was the heads as well, and Mopar urged them to drop the B1 program and start developing the Hemis.
