if it has to be done it has to be done.
maybe the mandatory military service you see with some european countries is not such a bad idea.
let's face it, there's a lot of people in the age bracket of the draft that could use the discipline (and some younger and older than the 18-26). on top of that, maybe learn a skill or two while in the service.

I'm 59 years old and due to my skills have for 35 years been on the call up list in case the S*%t hits the fan .
If they want my old decrepit Azz and the need exists bad enough to need that Azz then I will assume the position.
I was drafted in 1966 and for a young hooligan living on the edge it was a life changing experience.
I know I'm a better person for it even though the GOLDDUST 55 and my racing career went on hold ,I did as ordered even though the reason for it was bogus by media standards , [ Try to convince the est. 2 million who died after we left Nam abruptly that we were wrong ].
Freedom has always demanded a price and the young have always paid a disapportionate price to preserve it.
I will say if we can't declare a war exists in congress and we don't use every available tactic and all but nuclear weapons we have no business conscripting for it.
Nancy has since spanked Rangel and taken it off the table. If it was a check I would not put it in the bank.
The minute we stick fully indoctranated peacenics in the military we will be causing the belittlement of the military in a large way .
In other words I don't think that dog will hunt.
We lack a certain commodity that seems to disapear in all older society's.
I think the term ball's is appropriate!
