Schumacher broke another rear end. (8 Viewers)

I haven't heard anything, but from my years of running and building more than just dragsters I would say something in the alignment of crank to pinion or the chassis itself is binding the pinion. It would be nice to know if the same rear end mounting plates were in all the boomers.

In 1989 I went with a TF team to several races. In Houston we went thru 2 rear-end gears, one during a warm-up, before someone realized that the frame was kinked to the outside on the right, both top and bottom rails on both sides, at about the point of the front of the engine.

Seems to be a secret or the team is at a loss? After the previous times a lot of smart minds including Steve Chrisman thought the problem was solved. No one actually gave any details did they? Angry Hornet said he would but never has. After they were eliminated Jim O was in the booth with Joe Costello on .TV for Crew Chief Corner, wonder if he asked Joe not to ask him about it before they were on the air?! That car has finally started to get a little more consistent too.

Does NHRA not require a sheet metal liquid containment pan/diaper under the rear end, in addition to the ballistic blanket? Isn't there a sheet metal containment pan around the bottom end of the engines?

i feel for the team. what a terrible predicament to be in, especially after the first two, and very smart people diagnosing.
i sure hope they find the problem. i'm not particularly a fan of TS, but this team IMO deserves better. i hope they turn
the corner in next 4 races and find more reliable consistency, which has been showing recently.

Jon, they containment pan under the rear end isn't a requirement. Yes, one is ran under the motor. On most cars it runs from under the driver cockpit to right before the rear end.
