[coverattach=1]Las Vegas, NV (Jan. 29, 2009) With the start of the NHRA Full Throttle Championship season less than a week away, Rodger Brogdon will join the majority of the NHRA Pro Stock competitors for a weekend of testing and competition as The Strip at Las Vegas hosts the 4th annual Pro Stock Showdown. The annual Showdown in Las Vegas allows teams to get in some last minute testing while competing for Showdown bragging rights as well as the trophy and winner’s check.
For Rodger Brogdon and the Steve Kent Racing team this weekend also offers an opportunity to finally get on track after a winter of putting the finishing touches on this new Pro Stock team. With an in house engine program now showing promising potential on the dyno, it’s time for the team to get some track time and see how they can compare to the other cars on hand for the Showdown this weekend.
“We know our team has a solid foundation, we’ve proven that while racing in Comp,” Brogdon said. “But we also realize that we have now taken that next step, and the competition will be even tougher. With the addition of Jerry Eckman, we believe that we now have completed a team that can produce results. Steve Kent is committed to seeing that this team is competitive and this weekend in Las Vegas we will hit the track for the first time in 2009. Does that put us behind? Some might think so, but with two to three days of testing available, we should be able to get our feet under us rather quickly.”
“Chris Blair has a staff at The Strip that knows how to prepare a race track,” Rodger added, “So running at the Showdown will give us an opportunity to get some laps under track conditions very similar to what we’ll see while competing this year, and that is maybe even more important than anything else right now.”
The Showdown at The Strip testing and race results will be available online at DragRaceResults.Com Your Home For News & Results in Sportsman Racing!. Once the team completes their Las Vegas testing they will head to southern California and the NHRA season opener, the Kragen O’Reilly Winternationals in Pomona, CA.
