After weeks of delay, Rodger Brogdon and the Steve Kent Racing team will roll into the NHRA AC Delco nationals in Las Vegas as a self sufficient Pro Stock operation. Delays from hurricanes Gustav and Ike slowed the teams’ engine development program from a planned US Nationals debut to this weekend’s contest, and the team is looking forward to the opportunity to mix it up with NHRA’s best.

The team made their debut at the recent event in Richmond, VA with an engine leased from Tom Hammond's Enterprise, and found that their new Pontiac GXP showed some tremendous on track potential. Now with their in house engine program coming on line, the team is looking forward to taking the next step and running on Sunday.

“Steve Kent had a plan when he formed this team” said Brogdon “and although delays have presented themselves, this team has continued to push forward. The engine that we will run in Las Vegas shows to have competitive power and we look at Las Vegas as the next step in the learning process for our team.” “Our goal all along has been to get on track at the end of 2008 and set this team up for a competitive run at the 2009 Full Throttle Championship, and we now believe we are on track to achieve that goal.”

“As a team, we’ve raced in Vegas before with our Comp car, and had some success” added Rodger “And I ran the early event here last year in Pro Stock, so all in all, we feel comfortable with the track and confident coming into this weekend’s event. We will continue to take it one step at a time and learn as we go. With the level of competition these days in Pro Stock, we’re just looking to see where we are in relationship to the rest of the category. If we are where I think we are, this weekend might just surprise a few people.”

Brogdon and the team will test in Tucson, AZ prior to the event in Las Vegas, with more testing in between Vegas and the World Finals in Pomona, CA if necessary.
