[coverattach=1]With the Las Vegas Pro Stock test session and the opening of the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle season just days away, Steve Kent Racing today announced the signing of Jerry Eckman to the team.

Eckman, himself a former U.S. Nationals Pro Stock champion, brings his years of tuning expertise to a team that enters the NHRA Pro Stock wars committed to an all out assault on the 2009 schedule. Eckman will add another level of experience to a team that finds former Comp champion Rodger Brogdon at the wheel of a 2009 Pro Stock Pontiac GXP out of the Jerry Haas Race Cars shop.

As driver Rodger Brogdon said today, “team owner Steve Kent has worked hard this past year to put together a complete and competitive Pro Stock team. Virtually every member of this team has held a winners Wally at the end of a race day, so all of us know how to win. Our engine program is an expansion and growth of our Comp Eliminator success with Scott Benham and Brian Self putting in many hours this off season building and testing engines. An engine program, I might add, that has certainly shown some very promising numbers. Now, by adding Jerry Eckman to our team, we feel that his wealth of hands-on Pro Stock experience and knowledge adds that final ingredient to complete what we feel will be a very competitive team to contend for the 2009 Full Throttle Championship.”

Steve Kent Racing will test and compete at the 4th annual Las Vegas Pro Stock Showdown January 30 & 31, then head for the 2009 season opener, the Kragen O’Reilly Winternationals in Pomona, CA February 5th-8th.
