Rob, Reed split (3 Viewers)

Part of the "magic" is in the bellhousing it will be interesting to watch Rob's results at this race and next. Was it the tune-up, the pipe or who's doing the clutch. Any bets on the number of rear ends RWR booms this weekend?
Didn't RWR switch rear end companies?

No more rear ends! Joe Castello said he talked to Rob this morning who told him he had a good conversation with Jim O who explained the whole situation and also Johnny West was there helping Rob. I bet the two cars are going to be a lot more seperate since that didn't work to well.

I sure am gonna miss Jim Oberhofer. He was my favorite out there, just a great guy. I hope he ends up in a good position, if he wants to stay in the sport. Maybe he’ll go back to his Jiffy Lube business.

At least Jessie Snyder stayed…that guy is awesome, and I’ll be happy to see him.

Did Joe explain this on his channel? If not where can I hear it?

thanks.

Does he still have them oil change places?? I thought he got out of that

No, it was during the Nhra.tv broadcast. Hope Joe has Jim O on WFO in the future though. I really liked Jim O too, he sure can tell some stories. Be surprised to see him back out in the trenches next year though, he's been doing it his whole life. Maybe some consulting?

Did anyone notice that Clay is back in an open cockpit dragster? Gotta give a few passes to get this dialed in. first pass just a test 2nd pass was impressive being he just sit his ass down as the new crew chief.

Well…. since Tony S is going over to Tony Stewart at the end of the season, I have to say don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. That may not be a popular opinion here. Not a fan of that guy. 🤷 Drama seems to be wherever he is. There’s a reason for that.

Wonder if they cut the canopy off the new car, or if they went to the old car? He’ll probably post a video and explain.
I'd bet on it being the old car. The canopy car was a new build for this year. I think you'd modify the frame to make it a regular car.

You can take the canopy off and convert it to an open cockpit fairly easily (Justin Ashley did it earlier this year),but they didn’t have enough time, so they brought out the old car.

He seems to be running better!
Ashley, yes definitely.

Which is why it was a bonehead move to convert both Rick Ware cars to closed canopy, it’s already been shown by several other cars that they’re harder to tune. Starting with Alan Johnson and Doug‘s car three years ago.

I’m trying to figure out the chaos that must’ve ensued in the RWR camp this year with two canopy cars, they must’ve had it so completely a confused mess that they just didn’t know where to turn.

Too bad. Destroying three rear ends didn’t help the morale or the situation either.

But I bet that’s not the whole story.

Man it was just rotten. I miss JimO already. Apparently he took the departure with much grace. Not that I don’t like Rob even better, because the man is clearly a genius and extremely skilled in many arts.

Just for the record, number 1 and 2 in the points are the Kalitta cars. Open cockpit.
Number 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are Leah, Tony Stewart, Antron, Maddi and Josh, all Canopy cars.

A. J. won the Championship with Brittany Force in a canopy car, He won With Doug last year where they ran the canopy most of the year. David Grubnic won a championship in 22 with Brittany with a canopy car. Antron Brown won it in 24 with a canopy car.

So, are you really suggesting that you can't be competitive with a canopy?
Asking for a friend........

No, but apparently it is a variable that can throw a real curve to those that are trying to adjust. Doug switched in 2023 back to open after the tire incident, which is three years ago. So, please tell us what we are missing.

The exception this year seems to be Maddi’s car with Rob Flynn.

The Kalitta cars have about a 1/10 on the field and they are open canopy, thus they made a choice.
