Shawn Reed update

Brian is right, there have been many. Brandon Bernstein lost a tire in Reading around 2011.
I guess I’m trying to get a sense of whether they have suddenly increased in frequency the last couple of years, since we had quite a few since Doug Kalitta blew one in late 2023, was it?

Cam Ferre, or how about Leah Pruitt if she’s willing (prolly not on that one)? Terry McMillan or Doug Herbert would be logical if they still have their licenses. Cody Krohn? Scott Palmer?
I’m all for seeing Cameron getting the ride.

How many races can Shawn have a sub driver accumulate points for him?
I think 8 races. That is the number that Beckman subbed for Force last year. Unless I missed a statement, I doubt Shawn’s car races without him behind the wheel. The team is basically funded by Shawn so there probably isn’t any sponsorship commitments that need to keep the car on track.

That's probably the case. But, since we're having fun throwing names out there, how about Mike Salinas? He could take a ride, without having to fund the whole deal himself.

Jasmine would be more like!y, Mike seems in no hurry to return. But I'm still seeing the car idle for a month or so and see how Shawn is doing by indy.

Shawn seems to be in good spirits. I’m sure he’ll get somebody to drive, will be cool to see who it is. Car has been awesome this year.

Shawn is an independent with NO sponsorship to honor, so why would he go through the expense of racing while he has a car to rebuild/replace?
Unless he has the racing Jones, if that's it he can jump in his hydro.

I gotta agree with you on this. It’s not like he has to be at races because of a major sponsor agreement. He’s going to have some big expenses on building another car. I think Shawn will do what he wants to and depending how he feels from the injuries he sustained. It’s a shame what happened to him in Seattle, as I really like him and seems the other teams do as well. Would I like to continue to see his car on the strip for upcoming races? Hell Yeah! But I’m not the one paying the/his bills and I find it hard to believe that he would pay someone else to drive his car.

I see your reasoning perfectly, but that is a rough situation for that team. Considering that car’s performance, I hope he can get someone to drive for him.

I guess the biggest motivation would be maintaining his points position going into the countdown.
I agree Nunzio. I’d think that he would have a close eye on how Ida does for next couple of races, while he recuperates from things & see’s what needs to be done to car, team & $. I also agree with @Mike Larson that she would have go on “A Tear” to catch up on points. He may have 30 or so days, to see where he’s at physically and if he needs to worry about another driver, at Indy; or be able to have a couple of more weeks to recover/recuperate before Maple Grove. In a perfect world; I’d love for Shawn to be healthy, for them to end in a tie & both make the countdown (Plus! Does she have the funding to race all of the countdown races🤷🏻‍♂️) 👊
