Return of TF and FC Shootouts

Would love to see the T/F event return to Pomona like it was when Cragar/Weld Wheels sponsored it

Traxxas is located in Plano, TX, just outside of Dallas. Perhaps they'd want the shootouts in their backyard?

Except that at Z-Max the 4-wide is the main attraction/ticket seller so I'd be surprised if either event were held there. Maybe Route 66 for T/F.

As much as Route 66 would be great.. we already have the Jegs All-Stars here and a VERY full saturday schedule. I'd say indy and charlotte would be good places.

Also about englishtown "lacking" an event. Back when the Mr. Gasket Pro Stock Challenge first started, it was in Indy for alot of years, then E-town, then Chicago, now Norwalk.

Traxxas R/C now NHRA Series Sponsor

NHRA has signed a multiyear agreement with Traxxas, the leading manufacturer and seller of high performance radio-controlled vehicles. The agreement designates Traxxas as the Official Radio-Controlled Performance Products of the NHRA and will fully integrate the Traxxas brand into all aspects of NHRA, including extensive multimedia rights, broadcast elements, and a strong on-site presence, including interactive displays, signage, and entertainment features.

The sponsorship includes new Top Fuel and Funny Car specialty race-within-a-race programs, both sponsored by Traxxas. The specifics of the specialty programs, including locations for each event, will be announced at a later date. Traxxas will provide $260,000 to fund the two programs, and the Top Fuel and Funny Car specialty-race winners receiving $100,000 each.

Forgot about the Jegs deal there. Good point Dave. I was thinking of one event near the East coast and one near the West coast. Spread them apart and have more events with something special. I'd leave Indy out completely and make the attraction Double points.

I am always excited to go to Indy ... disappointed when I get there. Then again ... I have LVMS in my backyard, so the bar is pretty high.

PS I hope at least one of the Shootouts is at Vegas 2.

I have been to pretty much every track on the circuit except for 3 or 4 and in my experience there are 3 tiers of dragstrips:

1 - Bruton Smith facilities

1a - Norwalk and Joliet

2 - Everywhere else (most of these are the older tracks that were state of the art when they were built, but they don't hold a candle to the modern super-facilities.)

I think the shootouts should be held at Indy and the World Finals. These are still the two biggest races on the schedule.

i agree with the approach to Indy going back to the truly Big GO... Double points and the showdowns. I would rather see them get rid of the qualifying bonus points and take the Indy double points approach.

I guess I haven't looked as closely at the qualifying, but have the four rounds of qualifying improved overall due to the bonus points?

nevertheless how does this sound for qualifying?

- pick 4 races before indy (any 4, don't care)
- award points system for winner, ru, 3rd thru 8th place (3rd thru 8th on e.t.)
- highest 8 points totals during those 4 'major' races advance to big race for $
- qualifying is not touched - the small points still count toward season total
- big $$ race contestants decided by race day results, not qualifying

It's an interesting concept, but good performances on raceday are already rewarded with event wins and championships. The whole point of the "special" races is to reward good qualifying performances, which as of right now, go basically unrewarded (at least from a monetary standpoint).

Have another 4 in each class run for the 7th spot to get in the dance. Reserve the 8th spot for a fan vote. Maybe not the best idea. Just a thought. For sure at night. Not sure locale. 2 day event only. Oh yeah, but put either or both Nostalgic and ProMod as well.

yes, this race could be @ PBIR either side of gainesville - there is a 3 week window before and after gators.
just calculate pit space for amount of competitors - strike deal with airport
across street for additional spectator parking - bleachers are cheap and
portable.

Mike - was just thinking that the qualifying deal has already been done, not
to mention the 'small points' is incentive to qualify well in every session.

the top teams typically qualify 1-6 @ almost every event - so to use qualifying
as the basis for a big $$ race; the big buck teams are in almost without doubt.

if you use a limited amount of 'major' races to fill the big $$ field - it's an
'on any sunday' proposition and the potential is there for an underdog to
advance into big $$ race.

downside would be potential engine carnage/oil track as all teams big and small
really step on it for their chance for a big payday?

Never had to pit in the mud at Madison or Chandler and both had cleaner facilities than Clermont. Commerce and Gainsville are about the same as Clermont.
