This was the first time I was ever at a track to witness a tragedy such as this. I am still numb many hours after the crash and I will never forget the somber feeling in the pits and the feeling in my gut as I watched Scott's car enter the sand trap. May the Kalitta team, friends, and family be in my thoughts and prayers. Just a sad, sad day. I hope going back to the track tomorrow will help me feel better.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to Scott's family and crew. Scott was the epitome of a diehard funny car racer doing what he loved for no other reason than his love of the sport. We will miss you.
Any words I can think of seem so irrellevent. I feel very badly about this as we all do, but no where near as bad as the Kallitta family must. I 'm sorry.
Tried to call Speed Pryncess to let her know about this. Unfortunately, she saw the crash at a restaurant before returning my call. Scott sat down with us at the CSK race and chatted for a while. And now . . . he's gone.
We are both numb. Prayers go out to all of our friends at Kalitta Racing and DHL.
i left the track just before that session, i got home and turned the t.v on and am still so saddened after 6 hours. rest im piece scott. our hearts and prayers go out to the entire kaliaat family and race teams
My heart is broken. I have been watching that family for most of my life, being the heros most of us can only dream about. My most profound sympathy to the family, Kalitta Racing and especially Connie. My thoughts and prayers will be with you always. Godspeed and I trust you are in a better place,
My deepest condolences to Connie,
I can't begin to imagine the pain of losing a Son.
Scott and I were nearly the same age, and it seems as I've watched him grow up in the sport. He was easy to like, and easy to root for.
As soon as my Wife walked through the door this afternoon, she took one look at me and said, "What's wrong?"
I said, "We lost Scott Kalitta today at Englishtown."
She said, "My God, sometimes this sport you love just takes too much!"
