If it's costing teams 35K to make the cars use a front facing throttle body, and WJ adapted a cowl induction style for 1K, how is this move helping participation?

Performance wise for Pro Stock...........

I'm gonna guess 6.70's for the top teams, maybe just maybe a 6.69 - .67 if someone hits the combo just right with air and track conditions. Back in the 7's on the mountain. I think there will be full fields at the big races (Pomona, Vegas, Gainesville, Atlanta, E-Town, Indy, maybe Norwalk). I'll be surprised if WJ or KJ is behind the wheel, unless NHRA has relaxed the 5 yr. rule those Pontiac's are out. Given that there was no Pro Stock Ford in 2015 I doubt anyone will even try in 2016. It doesn't look like there is a 2016 Camaro for Pro Stock, or Funny Car as of yet. Unless GM has been designing and testing somewhere near Area 51. Force can just slap new decals on the Mustaro and he's good to go.

Are there any parts on a Pro Stock car body that match a stock production model short of maybe the roof?

Headlights and taillights.....even the fuel door lid is non-factory.

If they're already within 50hp of the current combinations, as has been reported, they'll be running a lot quicker than high 6/low 7s. Maybe a tenth slower at the worst. Winter testing will sort out the setup change due to the shortened wheelie bars (dumb idea, NHRA) so I don't see that as a problem. 35 GRAND to duct the front-facing throttle body? Somebody's joking, right? If I had a Pro Stock, just for testing purposes, I'd cut a 4 or 5" hole in the grille and run a dryer hose to the TB and see what happens. Cost, maybe $20 for the hose and a couple of clamps, and a few minutes of labor. At least I've have an idea of how the front-intake system is going to work. And why won't NHRA give the racers an option - front intake or cowl induction? Does everything have to be so spec that innovation is completely stifled?

I've heard before that alot of times the reason a rule is so set is for the sake of the inspectors. THIS is a front mounted snout. THIS is what it should look like. All the cars in class should should be very similar to THIS.
Any alteration off this path now requires an inspectors making a call. Where its much easier to enforce a rule that is written.

NHRA has pretty much killed any room for innovation. They seem to over regulate everything.

The wheels did not appear to come up on Shane Gray's runs. Apparently the throttle is so sensitive that the burnout and staging process is real tricky

I can't wait to get to Pomona and hear them run down the track. One of my favorite sounds in drag racing is when Pro Stockers hit high gear at the eighth and run it out the back door, I wonder how much it will be changed.

Talking with my dad last night, he says he remembers reading an article somewhere lately where WJ said he didn't think the new wheelie bars would create bigger wheelstands like we all may think. I guess the shocks the teams are using may prevent big wheelies. Anybody hear anything like that?
