Pro Stock Horsepower

So, how much horsepower does a Top Fuel engine produce? Every year it goes up 1,000 so perhaps 13,000 come Gainesville. Go 340 or go home.
If you could find a Dyno that wouldn’t scatter to test one, then we will know what they decide to tell us what it is, good luck that with being accurate 😎

My naturally aspirated 777 ci Sonny's hemi dyno numbers were just under 1,800 hp (I don't remember the torque numbers) that I ran in my Rick Jones pro stock Camaro in Top Sportsman 5 years ago. I ran it through a torque converter and a 3 speed B&J, shifting it under 6,500 RPM. It wasn't run necessarily for et and speed, but for consistency, and ease of maintenance. It ran a best of 6.59 at 209 at 2,350 pounds with a lighter driver in it. I'm 6'4" around 275, and with my big butt in it, I ran 6.67 with it, with a best speed of 207.

I only mentioned this because it's amazing how legal pro stock cars with 350 less horsepower can outrun what I had, simply because they keep it in the power range through gearing and RPM on the whole run, meaning they're extremely efficient. I could go the whole weekend, only peeking under the valve covers once or twice, just add fuel. Pro stock cars are a lot more maintenance.
