Please NHRA, try it just once. (1 Viewer)

I too thought Vegas was sparsely attended by both fans and racers.

I noticed the powers that be pushed back the parking 3 rows so that the first 4 could be used for VIPs. It went largely empty. Maybe 20 cars in that thing. Would be cool if they went back to the way it was before.

Also, the "pit" is no longer open to G.A. ticket holders. Would be cool if it went back to the way it was before.

The Motel6Vision or whatever it's called is invisible to those in the General admission bleachers. Would be cool if everyone could see it.

The P.A. system was too loud.

The place needs more trash cans throughout.

hmm? BEER....GOOD LOOKING WOMEN IN JEANS....EXCITEMENT....HORSEPOWER... JON ASHER... RODEO AND DRAG RACING DON'T DRAW THE SAME???? ARE YOU ****TING ME JOE?

When My mom was talking to people at her work on Thursday, the majority of them had plans to attend the RODEO instead of the Races. Most said, if they didn't have to chose during the same weekend, they'd go to both. This is simply a HUGE law firm in Vegas, but wondering how much of an impact having both events at the same time effects the 'drags'...

There are SEVERAL ways to improve attendance for Vegas races which have not been explored yet by 'the powers that be'. We're working on some cool HOTEL Promo's for next year with some of our clients. And it's real cheap to market it for all parties.

Most Drag fans I know aren't into Rodeo or Country Music.

I am going to agree with Joe on this one.

First of all ... it seems like the PBR or some other Rodeo sanction is here every other week. Every casino with an arena has at least one event, some have more (Mandalay Bay and MGM).

Secondly, most of their fans come from out of state. No one I know in Vegas gives a crap about Bull Riders, unfortunately they don't care much about drag racing either.

Thirdly, their tickets are usually more expensive than NHRA tickets, particularly on Friday and Saturday, which are the big nights for Rodeo.

Lastly, Vegas is a "destination event". I am sure there is a healthy percentage of locals at the NHRA and Rodeo events, but if people stop traveling in for those events, attendance is going to fall through the floor and go wayyyyy into the basement. Vegas locals (myself included) are notriously tight-fisted about attending local events.

I think you are seeing that with the Vegas Spring race. Despite what people may think, the economy still sucks. So if you had the choice to travel to Vegas for the spring race or the fall race, you are most likely going to pick the fall race. More cars, part of the Countdown, near the end of the season, you may get to see a champion get crowned, people are more likely to have vacation time accrued at work towards then of the year than they are at the beginning of the year, and last chance to have fun before the holidays. In the Spring, there are always more events (probably closer to you) that you can catch in the meantime ...

I may have Misspoke when it came to Country Music, but Rodeo and Drag racing is like the NBA and Golf!

I am going to have to disagree with you guys on the PRCA (Pro Rodeo Cowboys Assn) and the NHRA thing. Most of the cowboys (and women) I know that are involved in rodeo DO appreciate a good race. While NASCAR is popular, they enjoy a good drag race just as much and some, (like the rest of the world) more.

Problem is, that when racing is on, it is also rodeo season and to make points, all around or even enough money to keep going they have to participate in as many as possible. This often means weeks and months at a time traveling from one to the next with brief stops at home. There are teams that drive their livestock and there are teams that fly and meet up with the animals they will be riding. Like drag racing, they may have to be at one rodeo for several days qualifying in order to move up in rounds and if they are close enough to two towns that are hosting at the same time, they will go to both.

Basically, this means that they get to catchup on everything else in the off season, when they have time... as if that exists because they have jobs, family farms, family businesses, horses to train, livestock to breed and families. To stay in "tune" they frequent jackpots and other informal gatherings when they aren't at rodeos. Many of them operate on very tight budgets and one saying for ropers is "no catch'um, no eat'um, no eat'um, no sh*t'um, no sh*t'um, die." They only get paid to show up if they place/win or their if their sponsors pay a contingency.

While they may enjoy racing and may be fans, they probably only get to see it on TV once in awhile and less often live. They live, eat and breathe rodeo... sound familiar?

can you please clarify this statement.

same thing at charlotte.... right side of track could see about 6% of big screen

you cant get into pit with GA ticket?

I think I can make this clear. The "pit" is an area in front of the main grandstands that is at ground level and goes from about 330 to 660. There are beer stands there and many people like to hang there to be closer to the track and the return road. It is not the pits where the teams are, every ticket is still a pit pass at LVMS. As a matter of fact I am looking at it right now.

Correct ... and it used to be GA. Now you have to have a reserved ticket to stand on the fence on that side of the track.

Well that bites! We've had some good times in the 'pit'!

Ya gotta do it NHRA, you gotta try the $10 Nationals. And if by chance pigs fly and you actually try it, MAKE SURE educating the crowd is the absolute first priority. With junior dragster dying on the vine(what's with the $5k lawn mower engines...you can go just as quick for WAY less) and import racing evaporating(where's the Hondas?), you gotta do something and do it quick to bring the under 60 crowd to the events.
