ESPN? It the people in this thread that wont let it die. Because they have a problem with JFR. Many of whom are mods.

Greg, what are you saying? Just because I am a mod I can't have an opinion? I feel JFR has turned into a circus act and I agree with those who have spoken out against the BS. Look at how uncomfortable John is now when interviewed about the subject. When Robert and John were interviewed on the top end in Richmond John was clearly rattled which is something you rarely see.

Also, if you look closely, you'll see John had one eyebrow slightly raised. Another obvious sign of something, right? . . . and I swear I saw Robert Hight wink at the camera just before his burn out when the camera showed a close-up. These are obvious signs of something???????:D

This topic has more lives than Jason Vorhees. It's time for ESPN to let it go and quit asking everybody and their brother whether they think John's going to take a dive or not at whatever race they happen to be at that day; Indy was over a month and three races ago, now four. Where's the dead horse icon when you need it?

I have to agree with this. It won't die here, but ESPN could let it go instead of fanning the flames.
BTW Chris, where do you live? I am in Johnson Ranch

My contention is that ESPN continues to stir the pot with this story race after race; yet another interview with TPed about it, and now Ace throws in his two cents, (out of the blue,) for the TV. Did JF throw the run at Indy? Without a doubt. Can anyone prove it? No. (Lane choice was entirely his prerogative and at worst he can be accused of "choosing poorly" on that aspect.) At this point, it is what it is. Just race.

Kind of hard to prove since Robert did indeed win. I am sure the conspiracy theorists have ideas in their heads. One I heard on another site was John was using a used blower belt :D. Sorry, I couldn't resist since John has already turned his team into the WWE of the NHRA.
Come on Paul, John's car ran as it has for most of the season, he's has a hard time getting a full pull out of that car regardless of who is in the other lane.

Tony on the other hand. He complains about turning this sport into WWE, all the while he can't help but talk smack any time they put a mike in his face. Steve's right, this is what Tony should have done if he doesn't want to be like WWE!
.....................I would have rather him say "Reiff's that's none of my business right now, we have to concentrate soley on Neff, let me get back to my Neil Young."
............

The ESPN2 reporter who kept asking and egging him on should apply with the WWE.

Whoa, settle down Sparky. I never said you can't have an opinion, did I?

And, as for your contention that JFR turned into a circus act, just look at his record. EVERY FC team out there would love to have it, circus act or no. And if you ask me, that is the root of the Pedregons whining.

With all due respect to Gary Gerould and Reiffer, in my opinion I truly believe that the TV group eggs on Force and the Pedregons to keep this pot boilling. A shouting/fighting back and forth rivalry is something that I believe this sport is in need of. Look at the interest that was created when the whole Force/Pedregon thing happened. The only problem with this current situation is that it appears Force and the Pedregons have pretty much put this behind them. The TV folks are really the only ones keeping it alive. I would ask them to find something else to talk about but unfortuatly this sport has fallen into such a rut, there ain't really that much excitement anymore.

This is just a possibility here: I wouldn't be sure if JForce has crossed ESPN2 off the Christmas list. Maybe in Force's eyes he paid his petance, put the Indy debacle behind him and moved on. Then you have ESPN2 right out of the gate on Sunday talking "heads up?, dive?, fix?".

Even thought I pull against Force (on the track) its almost like an assualt on his character. 14 Championships as a driver, 15 as an owner, maybe he's earned the courtesy for the ESPN2 gang to say wait and let's see what happens in Round 1 vs. Hight.

I know John has earned the criticism from fans, drivers, and ESPN for what happened at Indy when a 14 time champ steered his car to the right quicker than Louis Skollick got kicked out of the Alpha Beta fraterity house for looking at Betty Childs.

Maybe his philosophy is it's time to get over it ppl. I understand where he's coming from.

It's a fine line to walk when you really want to be entertained on the couch each Sunday, but you also want ppl to act with common sense. But I see NASCAR and the PR machine and I DON'T WANT THAT.

I give ESPN2 credit. As much as the love to stick the mic in John Forces face and his entire Castrol, Sanyo, Brand Source, Ford, AAA of SoCal team, they were also quick to throw him under the bus in the 1st segment of the show.

Again, just give me entertainment. I've been entertained in this Countdown more than ever.

While there was great racing action on the telecast, if there had been one more "run" breakdown (Force vs Hight in 11 runs, then eight, then six), I would have puked. Totally bush league, IMO. There's such a thing as TOO MUCH pot stirring.
