At the one Bandimere event that ran factory stock, the fans stayed in the stands and they put on a great show. Of course the fans there stay in their seats for most classes. It was either the heat or the stairs that kept them in their seat.factory stock is ultra cool and very competitive. IMO you'll never convince the casual fan at an nhra nat. event
that they need to stay in the bleachers to watch 7 second cars on 9" tires
4.50 1/8th mile is the cutoff for a 25.5 chassis. At the one Bandimere event that ran factory stock, the fans stayed in the stands and they put on a great show. Of course the fans there stay in their seats for most classes. It was either the heat or the stairs that kept them in their seat.
The biggest issue with factory stock is the 7.50 chassis certification. At any point a single car runs in the 7.40’s, the cars aren’t certified and essentially done with. I do not know if there is a 1/8 mile time but that really limits the technology improvements over time.
So.....after all your complaining you never actually watched .TV!Why dont you read the thread and you will see why it changed to your so called my favorite theme.
I agree with you but perhaps they blend in too much with other sportsman's categories? Maybe people really don't understand the class.factory stock is ultra cool and very competitive. IMO you'll never convince the casual fan at an nhra nat. event

And sadly, the manufacturers are not helping. Camaros aren't in production now, and who knows how much longer we'll have the Challenger and Mustang. I fear both are not long for this world. Then we'll have a possibly outdated class.
Love pro-stock for the competitiveness and engineering of the cars, but it could be time for a major re-branding of classes. Our likes and passions can't withstand time and fate. I'll (and others will) have to move on with it or move away from it should big changes come.![]()
For sure on the Challenger that went out of production 3 years ago. 2 door sport coupes just aren't the hot ticket in today's market that's become saturated with SUVs.And sadly, the manufacturers are not helping. hmm, guess I had it backwards then. I thought I read somewhere online they changed their minds and were going to keep the Challenger through the 26 model year. I stand corrected sir!Challenger is done not sure about the Mustang

Don't get any ideas. I ain't that crazy.![]()
Here ya go. I believe this race took place last year. Enjoy your 'pro vintage' Pro Stockers.Right, not just 2 door sport coupes but 2 doors in general are increasingly rare. Doesn't help FSS at all.
Shoot, maybe we'll see a "pro-vintage" class evolve. Interesting things may be coming our way one day in the not too distant future.

I think it was a 4 door Dart that was allowed to be used as a 2 door. Dodge/Plymouth Neons were available as a 2 door car.NHRA can let them use any model/year car they choose. If they can let Mopar use a Neon 4 door car ( AKA The Dumplin) as a 2 door what stops them from using..................whatever.

The Neon was available as a 2 door 95-99 and starting in 2000 only available as a 4 door. I just remember them using a 4 door as a 2 door back then. They were all Jeeps according to WJ.I think it was a 4 door Dart that was allowed to be used as a 2 door. Dodge/Plymouth Neons were available as a 2 door car.
ughIf Pro Stock was based on what everyone buys today, it would all be SUVs with turbo 4s.
