Now Bandimere ? (2 Viewers)

We now know the buyer.

Seems like a tremendous waste of land considering all the new homes going in on the other side of the freeway. The county would do a lot better if it was developed as part of a residential/commercial plan since the track is done anyway.

There are several issues that any builder would face developing the property. The soil itself contains betonite which can cause many structural issues among the hogback. Also with no current water supply that is something else that would need to be done. Another issue if they started digging would be the likely possibility of discovering fossils. The hogback just to the north of Bandimere is called Dinosaur Ridge. I would think that if any home builder thought it was financially feasible, they would have offered more money than Copart. Seems odd that Copart would pay more money for this land when you can get cheaper land elsewhere in Colorado.

agree. isn't copart part of englishtown raceway park now too? almost as if they are looking for something.

Any news on what Bandimere might be planning, if anything?
I talked to Sporty Bandimere in Las Vegas. He would not confirm that they have anything to announce. I asked him how long it would take to build a new track and he said “18 months”. I said so maybe in 2026 and he replied middle of 2025. That made me think they could be close to a deal. Fingers crossed.

That’s at least an encouraging hint, my god, if any people love drag racing, it was them. Also the Baders, can’t forget about those folks.

it's double secret dragstrip construction. even more secret than the new indy tower. two weeks before the race, nhra will be notified of location.
or it's just a typo from someone who setup this pop-up menu many months ago, and it didn't show until this week after zmax.

Unless something has recently changed, the sale of the property has yet to be finalized. I’m almost sure that it is nothing more than an error, I can certainly hope that there is one last race. The pro entries are pre entered for the whole season so them being on the list is normal. The one single Comp entry makes me wonder. However after a recent conversation with Sporty, there is hope for next season.

Chris:

Do you know if the property is being maintained? Or has some of the infrastructure been sold off? Could they actually hold a race if there was a long delay with selling the property?

From the highway, you wouldn’t know they was any changes. They are still running their main office from the track. Nothing has been torn down or removed that is visible. The logistics would make it almost impossible to hold a race. No tickets have been sold, no employees have been hired. One of the reasons for selling was they were running out of room to park spectators. I don’t think it would be worth the expense to open the track up for one last race. I hope that they would but I think they are more focused on getting something for the future.

i know it won't happen, but earlier this year when it was realized flying H wouldn't be ready for a nat. event, could nhra have approached an existing track on the summer tour,
and explored possibility of holding either.....
1) back to back races over 2 weekends, where haulers remain parked for duration of two events?
or
2) set up a double points weekend.......have qualifying on thursday and/or friday, then race on saturday, then re-seat positions based on sat. eliminations, for another race on sunday?
