for many years the rumors were that all the tracks in California were going to reopen. when you see the first race back in Colorado I will be starting the racing in the big track up there in the sky. I think someone should purchase land in Death valley build a drag strip and in a few years you will have a new town there and people will be complaining about the noise and the track will close because the pink spotted lizard has loss of hearing from the racing and the track will be deemed to be a environmental hazard. now AHRA hired the best then no it won't work. the first race is. no let's cancel that. You say you want to build a drag strip, I have a bridge you maybe interested in.
I know I shouldn't think the sky is falling. but I have seen it before.

I live 25 miles from the site. Admittedly, I’ve been fairly critical and pessimistic about the proposal from day one. Do I love drag racing? You’re _*******_ right I do! Do I want it to come back to this market? Yes I do! I am just heartbroken because there is such a strong, tight, formidable motorsports-loving community here that is really struggling to continue to celebrate and engage in the sport we all love. We got nothing.

Fact is, Denver is not a Motorsports town. It is a football town. You can’t put a square puzzle piece into a round one. The public majority here does not want a race track. They want a new, covered NFL stadium. They want their NFL team to win the next Super Bowl. They want their city to host an NFL Super Bowl someday. And outside of football season…. They want to begrudgingly go camping; or hiking; or drive up to the ski slopes and fight each other on the interstate traffic. Some even want a new soccer stadium. They don’t want car racing though.
ChampCar Denver Grand Prix - gone. Pikes Peak NASCAR (Busch) event - gone. NHRA Mile High Nationals - gone.
If you’re in Denver and you want motorsports…. Monster Jam and Supercross is what you do every winter inside Ball Arena.
Otherwise enjoy that National Western Stock Show and your Broncos football and your CU Buffs.
That’s where we’re at. I hate it …. Yet I respect it and I acknowledge it. Can’t fight city hall.
Let me say this last thing though ….. I truly believe that the Bandimere family is the only entity in the world who can make this happen.

Nobody else can rebuild this dream ….. nobody else out there could ever continue this great legacy…. other than the Bandimere organization and family themselves. DID I JUST HEAR THUNDER??????

Thank you for you optimism. I just got back yesterday form my second hospital stay in two months to retime my heart.🚑 hoping it works this time. I had a doctor try to kill me in 2017 and I got repaired then. so add 8 more years from the first repair I will be 90 and that is a lot of time for more stories.🤞

I bellieve I have said this here before but I think National Trail is in the cross hairs here. A couple of new developments starting up a couple of proposed developments in the works. me there is an event and before anyone says it, my house was here before the track was.................and there are a lot of houses between me and the track

Larry, sounds like you may have the Ford Cammer timing chain stretch problem. May I suggest a Gear drive setup. LOL

I live an hour north of that site. I’ll say this - the Bandimeres are very smart to purchase in Weld County. It’s night and day compared to trying to do the necessary rezoning in one of the closer Denver suburb counties. Also, that location will draw people from Northern and Eastern Colorado who don’t want to fight their way through Denver. There’s a NASCAR track just down the road that has a good following doing that.

Talk of Denver being a football town has truth to it but the biggest problem as I see it is the monumental shift in Denver's political winds over the past couple of decades. I used to live in the Denver-Boulder area and Boulder in particular was a bit crazy then. Both those towns are unrecognizable today, politically speaking. A woke, climate-change, sanctuary city mecca, Denver's leaders would rather ingest cyanide than to think there's a nasty-ass polluting drag strip nearby even if it is in Weld county.

I had read about some commercial/warehouse developments possibly at the Rt 158 and 310 exits west of the track. If so, and they are of a commercial/industrial nature, shouldn't be impacted too much by the dragstrip.

i have no clue but the person buying some long time tracks then letting go a person that knows drag racing from z stock to top fuel i hope its not to sell to a developer down the road

Yes west is almost all commercial, south is pretty open still. North is the snooty Granville, Dennison University neighborhoods. Then about a mile east is where the new developments are planned which are between me and the track. Also remember JEGS is no longer at NT so we shall have to wait and see how it plays out.

Oh I like this a lot. You know who you are.

I’m not sure you’re right on this, let’s stop blaming the left. Bandimere has been at high attendance, even as recently as their last year. Even after the political shift. Correlation does not equal causation.

Chris I think he maybe looking at the challenges of overall support for a new track

He could be right. I don’t wanna turn this into a flaming contest on politics. But I would imagine the support for a new track in the Denver area would be rather high, considering how much support Bandimere got right up to their closing. That’s all. Especially a nicer track with better amenities.

Demographics are changing, and there is absolutely no way to escape it. Drag racing needs to evolve and change with it, I hope it does. I really think that of all places in the country, Denver would support it.

do you think indy car would be interested in running an annual race there?
do you think nascar could possibly figure into their equation too?
fairly certain they would pull an annual div. 5 regional/divisional, more than likely a double?
and other non-motorsports events for the metro area?
lots of planning. lots of infrastructure.

You're right. Let's hope that Newark welcomes them with open arms to draw residential development away.

I don’t think this is specifically a question for me, but I would refer to the other members who are in the area, and just add my two cents worth and say “I at least hope for some of the above”.

Chris, i'll weigh in and obviously these are my opinions and not based on any knowledge directly from the Bandimere family. I live in the area and had been going to Bandimere since the early 80's, the Denver metro area had a champ car event late in 1990 racing a road course within downtown Denver it only lasted 2 years. Limited interest from the local government and no major sponsor limited the success. Nascar was rumored for a Denver metro location in the early to mid 90's but nothing ever reached planning or zoning to my knowldege. Bandimere will rebuild eventually, the extent of the facility obviously depends on funding and how much money is spent during the development process. I have heard they are attempting to acquire different parcels of land that are connected in Weld county. From a racing perspective there is and will continue to be a loyal racer and reginal racer following. I believe if a facility was built that had a road course and the infrastructure to accommodate the different events it would be supported by not only the local fan, but fans from a regional area, along with a renewed interest from additional sanctioning bodies. We'll just have to wait and see how things progress and to what extent the funding allows in the near term.

i was asking those questions to whomever wanted to respond.
what i'm suggesting is if the bandimeres (and other possible interests) go forward with new construction, i would guess
whatever they build might have to have commitments by associations or groups outside of just drag racing?
someday we'll all look back at the years of golden, co hosting the pre event street party, followed by the race on the mtn.
what a special place, what a special annual event. gone.
