Voted today but whats going on with the process...we are regressing in our voting tabulation. We (NYS) had lever machines that were quick and simple, flip the lever pull the handle...now I have to stand at some not so discrete table and fill in the circle - completly - then put the filled in ballot in a reader that process and records my selections...seems sort of complicated fron days gone by

I've lived in 6 different states, so I've experienced all manner of ballet types.

This lotto ticket/sat-type fill-in-the box sheet is actually quite efficient, cheaper, and less prone to foul-ups. Each precinct having one scanner which reads your ballet, checks it to make sure it's been filled out correctly, then stores it securely is a good way to go. Simpler is better. If there's an issue with your ballot, the scanner won't accept it, and you are notified immediately and correction can be made right there and then. Any manual paper punch system is prone to mechanical fouling, and you never know if it was counted correctly. This way (scanner), any issues are on you, and how you filled it out. Much better in my eyes. Our local polling place had one electronic/digital polling machine, and the rest were these small tables with barriers to give you a little privacy to fill in the boxes. I sure don't think anyone is cheating off their neighbor's ballet Seemed much quicker to me.

The folks that need the real pat on the back are the volunteers that give their time to this process. I thanked every one of them this afternoon.

Jesse, where in the title does it say this is a get out and vote thread? It says November 4, 2014. I was commenting on the cluster ">?K that happened on November 4th. And just for the record its not part of my political agenda its facts.

Republicans want to go to war. History has shown that. They want to control a woman's rights, History has shown that also. They want no gun controls. They HATE Obama because hes black. They want to go back to a failed economy as was the economy under George Bush. Republicans never say they were wrong or take the blame for anything its always someone else's fault. So I was just stating facts. I'm sure you can understand that or are you just going to blame someone else?

However if this is "Just a get out and vote thread" then perhaps it too should have been in a political forum. November 4th had very little to do with NHRA, but hey you put it there.
