Every year we lose many thousands of people (mostly seasoned citizens) to the flu. We've never shut down the world because of it/
It is yet to be determined to what degree Covid-19 is transmits more aggressively or is more deadly than seasonal flu.
Do we want to live un a world totally devoid of risk?
While I think the President got rolled into over-reacting to this so-called pandemic, the numbers indicate (to me) that, with reasonable precautions, it's time to get back to work.
It has already been determined, it is far more deadly and aggressive than seasonal flu. For several days it was the leading cause of death in the USA, even with social distancing measures taking effect.
It is not a "so-called" pandemic. It is a literal pandemic. Defined as "an epidemic of disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide."
The numbers aren't higher because social distancing in place. The further we roll back social distancing the higher the numbers will go. The risk is significant, especially so if the healthcare system becomes overwhelmed.
But I'm actually with you that with reasonable precautions, events can take place. Holding an event open to large number of spectators is not within that spectrum, but I can see perhaps off-street events returning, with people restricted to their vehicles.
I couldn't agree more with what Mr. Bader said in his video. It's time to take back our country. Everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding Covid-19 and the decision to support, or not support businesses that need to reopen is entirely up to you. If you aren't comfortable with going to your local race track, than by all means stay home. It is still a free country, which gives each and everyone of us the right to make the best decisions for ourselves. I personally do not fear the virus, however I do fear the power that our government and media are exhibiting during these times. As a business owner I can very much relate to what Mr. Bader is saying. I hope that racers and fans come out in droves to support Mr. Bader, support racing and show their support for taking their country back.
The problem is, those people who choose to go to a race track or an event with many spectators then further endanger everybody else in the community. For instance, if someone goes to the race track, they come within close proximity to hundreds of people. They then go to the supermarket and risk exposing the people there, who have been taking precautions.
Freedom is fine, until it extends to a point where someone's freedom physically affects that of others. It's not 'taking the country back', it's choosing to be wilfully ignorant of the risk.
