It's not only embarrassing FOR NHRA, but it's becoming embarrassing to be associated with NHRA drag racing. It certainly doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how easy the fix for all this could be. How can the boobs in Glendora be so deaf, dumb & stupid? It's time for PRO to get off it's collective hands and start screaming loud & clear. This effects their livelihood and those of their teams, as well as their sponsorships. Sponsorship of an NHRA fuel team right now sure does look inviting right now, huh???.....or not. This whole situation is absolutely pathetic.....especially when it's widely known there is currently enough nitro in the US to supply ALL the teams until the end of the season.

OK....off my soapbox!

Monkeys and footballs!

Is that like FUBAR? I read ya loud and clear.......I'm gonna be a bit displeasured if I get one Q session on Friday at Sears Point in July, especially if I pay the same price for the ticket either way, and my dad drives down to go with me..

Another question, if they cut back to 3 sessions per event, will the sponsors want to cut back what there paying?

A couple of questions:

1. If they cut down to 3 sessions, are they going to toss the qualifying rule of top 12 on Fri, fastest 4 on Sat?

2. Since Fri will only have one session, are they going to lower the ticket price? I doubt it.

I just dont understand why we cant come to somekind of resolution in all this. You would think NHRA would be willing to eat crow for the lifeblood of the sport for crying out loud.

So we get less of a show for the same admission price!
Tell me that doesn't follow what's happening in our economy.

If NHRA were run like a real business, heads would roll on this. It's like having a bar and there is a shortage of beer. You had better beat the bushes for product way before you run out, otherwise you are out of business. The fuel cars are the attraction plain and simple. The noise and thunderous vibration is what people come to see, hear and smell. VP needs to go, they are bad business managers. I hope as do all drag racers that this shortage doesn't cause fuel drag racing to come to a halt. NHRA,VP SOMEBODY--IMPROVISE, THINK, ADAPT. I have heard about this supposed shipment coming from China.
Get AIA (Ass in Air) and go check it out for yourselves. Maybe (hopefully) they already have. The ban of any owners (DSR) being in the nitro business stinks. Sorry I had to vent but that is just my 2 cents.

Maybe it's time for a new Sanctioning Body and do away with the incompetent boobs that currently run the show! :p

Here is something else that I haven't seen anyone ask about: What about the sportsman drivers who run A-Fuel at the divisional level? Will there be enough nitro to go around for them?

NHRA does not own drag racing! They don't own the drag racing teams.

But they own the biggest group of egomanical morons that I have ever witnessed.

I would love to see Schumacher and Force stay and test at Topeka on Monday. Then show up at Chicago and dare NHRA to fine their teams or tell them they can't race.

What do you think the uproar from the fans would sound like if none of the Force or Schumacher cars were running!?!?

BTW... I'm anxious to see how Alan is going to spin this into "we don't know the whole story." LMAO ;):D

There won't be a national event there the next year.
Thats pretty easy.
Greg,

What's NHRA going to do, hold all 24 national events at the 6 tracks they own/manage? You think Bruton Smith or any of the other national event track owners would sit by and let NHRA pull something like that!?!?

No Nitro in the Pits!!!!!!!!!! There is NO WAY I will be attending an NHRA National event (and that's 10 per year) if the cars warm up on alcohol. Imagine Grubby, Doug K., Force warming up on Alcohol. The stupidity of this organization continues to amaze me. To not know that a great portion of the appeal is the pit access WITH NITRO. AMAZING!!! Alcohol warmups---------NO THANKS NHRA.

Sounds like its time for someone with semi deep pockets or a law degree to file a class action suit on behalf of the members. If you attack the only thing that matters to Glendora ($$$$) then they will fold like a tent in a hurricane. JMO

Why doesn't NHRA give back the $$$$ that VP paid to become the "official fuel supplier" to the NHRA, and recind the $100 large fine to Don Schumacher and apologize to Don, then Don can sell his supply to VP under the stipulation of VP not marking the fuel up more than say 20%. Everyone comes out smelling pretty. VP can still be the supplier, Don Shoe no longer has the NHRA publicly humilating him, and the NHRA no longer has to consider running running one less qualifying round and all the other assorted threats that have been brought up at today's meeting. After the monies have been returned, perhaps Compton and Light can find different organization to fleece.

just a thought.

you read the fist paragragh in the com. plus and it sounds like the pro members either agreed to no testing or were told you won't test on monday. i remember going to the pro meet in tulsa on labor day weekend back in the 70's with big daddy and a good group. the show was great. here's an idea, bring back the AHRA. they always put on a great show.and if your looking for deep pockets, isn't somebody in charlotte building a new track.

What a comedy of errors. Its hard to find any other successful organization that both initiates and tolerates this many totally avoidable mistakes. The unfortunate structure of this one (no shareholders to force changes in management) means that this ship can keep going on with idiots at the helm until it crashes and burns.

Looking at this entire operation from a business standpoint, who stands out as
knowing what the hell they are doing?

The team owners- Don Shumacher, Connie Kallita, Don Prudhomme, John Force, and keep going on this list including many of the single car teams also that have figured out how survive and prosper even while encombered with a racing organization that hurts you instead of helps you.

Please Pro owners, bust away from these knuckleheads and either demand and force significant top down changes in the operation or start a new one, perhaps teaming up with Bruton Smith in the process.

Graham Light = Hile Hitler !

LOL! I think he's only doing what he has to do now. But I think the blame can fall squarely on the exclusive rights that only one companies brand of nitro is available. What are the A/fuel guys going to do? Anyone remember my perfect storm post?
